I live in a rural area and we constantly loose our internet. My wife has the campaign disc for me for christmas. No amount of begging has swayed her to give it to me prior.
I am hearing reports that the game is not actually on the disc. What I want to know, is this true?
Here’s why I want to know. If on christmas day out internet is down ( bushfires, floods, wombat chewing, someone digging before they dialled 1100 Dial-Before-You-Dig, kids vandalising the exchange etc. )
WILL I BE ABLE TO PLAY THE CAMPAIGN FROM START TO FINISH ?
OR IS IT JUST, TOUGH LUCK, WAIT UNTIL THEY FIX THE CONNECTION?
I made a post with all the info in this thread:

If you have the disc you must still download an update to the game in order to play it. You can play it offline afterwards.
Although DefineBrackish already answered with a comprehensive post, I just want to add my thoughts: I picked up the physical version just to have it in my collection and ran some disk utils to check it out. There’s only ~20GB total data on the disk itself. That’s not even the full size of the campaign.
So, given the size of the campaign download when it launched, the disk doesn’t include the full campaign and only includes about two thirds of it. You’ll need an internet connection to download the rest (plus any day one updates), unfortunately.
No, it’s just a key, as is the standard for physical discs these days. You’ll have to download the campaign.
I’d recommend installing a few days before Christmas.
Thanks to everyone for the info.
