Playing this level again obviously didn’t bring back the same fear and nerves factor that it did when I first played it but I would like to see another level like this.
Doubtful they will be able to fully recreate that same experience but I do enjoy a good horror game every now and then.
Agreed.
The enemy designs in Halo 4 were wasted potential due to the lack of atmospheric build up.
I liked how 343 Guilty Spark had all sorts of signs that pointed to the Flood. They even went so far to put a bunch of dead Flood corpses outside if you went back up the elevator after reaching the locked door.
Agree 100%
Halo combat evolved had some of the best levels out of the entire Halo series
The good ol’ days; back when I actually liked the Flood being in Halo.
If/When the Flood return, 343 HAS to get the fear element down. That was part of their appeal in CE. They were just annoying in Halo 2 and 3.
So… Out there idea, but what about a game based around an ONI search and rescue team finding the Spirit of Fire and as they investigate what happened they find it had been over run by the Flood and have to fight their way out. Imagine “The Mona Lisa” meets Dead Space. I know it probably wouldn’t work as a whole game in the Halo Universe but as an add on or DLC maybe.
i miss the good’o’ british accent monitor

That would be awesome as an add on
I agree with this.
343 Guilty Spark was my favourite mission in CE, just because of how it was made. The atmosphere, the feeling that something is gonna go wrong any minute… Brings good memories back…
I agree. 343i really need to get the Flood right within future Halo games. It seems Halo: CE is the only Halo to ever nail the terrifying nature of the Flood, whereas the rest made them feel forced and reduced them down to annoying zombies.
The Flood are supposed to be an intergalactic parasite species which poses a threat to all sentient beings. Now that the truth has been revealed about them having descended from the Precursors, there’s no reason 343i shouldn’t try to make them scary and a challenging foe.
It would make Halo’s campaigns so much better.
It’d definitely be a great way to re-introduce the Flood into the story.
I am thinking about making a cinematic version of this level with my capture card for Halloween. The level plays like an awesome horror movie, and I won’t forget the time I screamed when I saw the combat forms for the first time. The music was incredible and made the level even scarier. The maze like nature of the level made you feel cornered and helpless, even as Master Chief. I would love another level like this, but don’t make the flood like halo 3 with poor aim and no brains. I want the flood that struck terror into you, and immersed you into the action.
I think one thing that would have made it better would have been having better lighting, rather having the lights go dark in certain sections requiring you to use a flashlight.
I think Gravemind, the one from the original trilogy, needs to return, after lying dormant on the Ark for 5 years, more calculating, overpowering, and unstoppable than ever before. The Chief absolutely and literally needs to have his mind overwhelmed and pushed to the brink. If he had the ability to brainwash a contender-class Ancilla the Gravemind should be able to utterly mind-rape Master Chief, this needs to be addressed.

Who or what ever said the Gravemind is still on the Ark?
I always liked the Flood, not only in CE. 343 GS + The Library was a freaking sweet combo that always left me at the edge of my seat.
Many say that The Library is the worst level in any Halo game but I don’t agree. Being introduced to the Flood on 343GS and then facing hordes of them the next level while trying to reach the Activation Index… WOW good times :’)
I would love to fight some flood with a DMR and sticky det. First time for both.
I know the idea has been tossed out before but I really like the idea of it…
Flood firefight mode
However the environment would need to match the mood. Mean dark claustrophobic play spaces. Not all of them but definitely a good amount. Example… A large cargo hold with a maze of cargo containers. Poorly lit. With attached narrow access tunnels that link to various parts of the cargo hold.

No one, I was running with the assumption we’ll see the Gravemind in a future game, if not Halo 5.
Out of all the levels of Halo. This one was one level that scared me. The Flood in Halo 2/3 just seemed no where near as scary.
