Please explain more. (sounds cool but i dont know what it is)

I agree with Sierra 772 in that my being for or against the particular weapon addition you’re proposing would depend upon more details.

In general, though, my feelings about a multiplicity of variations on Halo weapons are very mixed. Warzone in Halo 5 gave us a completely staggering number of alternate versions of pretty much every weapon in the game, and some of them are spectacularly fun to play with. Unfortunately, the insane amount of differences between even the “same” base weapon do shoot the relative simplicity of Halo’s longtime sandbox formula in the foot.

I think that 343i needs to be very careful in how many variations on weapons they implement into Infinite. It can be fun to have the variety but it gets overwhelming to have too much of it and it also makes balancing the sandbox a nightmare. I can only imagine how horrible that problem would be if it were compounded with the return of dual wielding.

What do you mean by corrosive needler? What would it do?

Think OP meant something like this. It’s an interesting idea but would that work well in-game?, the needler is quick so I guess Corrosive could work but only if they had Spartan deaths that matched the type of death since don’t want a repeat of H5 where all weapons lead to the same effect being re-used for everything…even if it makes no sense. It be might interesting to see weapon ammo types too like flame rounds, etc…or the ability to freeze the enemy like in Doom 16’s tag mode but with actual weapons similar to Mr Freeze’s/Captain Cold’s guns.

I’m gonna go out on a limb and assume that a “corrosive needler” would have some damage-over-time quality that stacked the more needles were applied to a target. I think this would cause much frustration; given the explosive and homing nature of the standard Needler, adding a corrosive effect could very well make if feel overpowered. And if you tried to balance it by removing one of those original aspects of the weapon to make room for the corrosive effect, you’d be removing the very soul of the weapon. You might as well craft an entirely new weapon and have it be corrosive, rather than try to make a corrosive variant of a staple weapon like the Needler.
