Nearly everyone is gonna end up as Semi-Pro

When you get past Onyx you get to semi-pro. The semi-pros ranks goes from 1500-3000 range. The top 200 are ranked pros.

Only a few days ago you could be rank 1800 and be pro, but now as that rank, you are only semi-pro.

What is going to happen is that the best of the best ends up as Pros around 2900+, and then everyone else is gonna be between 1500-2900.

When 1 player complained to Quin del hoyo that gold matched up against Semi-pro he then responded with something along the line of:

Who is gold gonna play against then?

  1. … The skill gap is balancing itself out. Just because top 200 are gaining more points doesn’t mean more people automatically make Semi-Pro. It means the cap is raising.

  2. With a proper population with everything working as intended, the ranking will not have the Semi-Pro population look like Halo3’s MLG playlist’s inverted mess of obvious player tampering. As is you can’t show anything to prove that it even might at this moment.

  3. 343i hasn’t yet seen how their equations actually accounts for the data they have. They are seeing the effects but not able to do the analysis. That’s because it’s a Beta!!

  4. Feedback/observations are one thing, concluding negative outcomes as intent are another. I would suggest asking to see if we ourselves can see the skill distribution for at least week 1 via Twitter.

Get rid of the crappy Ranking System, it’s like if Clash of Clans and Counter-Strike (terrible Game) had an ugly baby.

Furthermore, it’s probably going to have problems no matter what Ranking System is implemented. The Game is casual heaven and way too easy. Doesn’t have any skill in it.

Why do you think this will happen?

Your ranking isn’t just a representation of your skill, it’s your skill relative to everyone elses. That means, you move up because you forced someone else down. There’s no way semi pro will become overcrowded, it’ll just become harder to get into with more people playing, as the bar raises with time.

I would assume that the ranking algorithm will work similarly to grading on a curve. Players at the average (mean) skill level, will end up somewhere in between silver and gold.

PS, gold players SHOULD occasionally be matched with players ranked higher. It’s the best way to prove they are ready to move up.

If you can’t drop from a division then everyone is going to be semi-pro.

But if you can’t win, you can’t rank up. It’s also based on your opponents. If you beat semi-pros when you’re match with them, yes you get to become semi-pro more quickly.
If you’re Gold but only beat Golds and Silvers, you’re not getting to Onyx too quickly, if at all.

Hold up…Counter-Strike a terrible game? You serious? That’s one of the most popular and competitive online fps’s to date.

To be fair I haven’t played it at all. But I’ve seen it and don’t like the look of it. Seems that it’s an unequal, boring and overrated Game. My friends go on about it and from the sound of things it’s not for me. If it had a demo I would give it a try, unfortunately it doesn’t though.
