Hello,
Why does Halo 5: Guardians have “Guardians” in its name? I get the significance of it to the game, but the previous games did not have anything added after the number. For example, Halo 4 was not along the lines of Halo 4: Didact.

Good point, I have no idea.
idk dramatic effect? try to get people to pay attention to it
No clue honestly.
Sub names on main titles often indicate multiple main titles of the same number but having different sub names.
We could see: H5G, Halo 5 salvation, halo 5 revelations. Etc.
Testing something new
Maybe Halo 5 will have another chapter
which I have no issue with being that I love the games new mechanics and gameplay style…
I think they’re looking to drop numbers altogether and have the games be named things like Halo Guardians or Halo Revolutions.

Yeah, otherwise it turns into Final Fantasy, where I think they are on Final Fantasy 1337.
thats because its in reality part 1 and halo 6 is part 2.
halo 4 was a stand alone story. From start to finish it wrapped up itself.
Yeah, I’m a huge fan of #s in the Halo series. I read that 343 (this is a couple years ago when H5 was announced) will be getting rid of #s all together.
To me it’s a big part of Halo. Don’t have to be like everyone else on everything ^

I would rather say that I loved FF7, 10 & 11 (true btw, lol) when looking back. That is easy and better for conversation / referencing. Don’t want to say I loved FF sands of time, when angels die, dragons of Azeroth…
Plus makes timing (ordering) easier over time too.
I guess I have to admit I’m an accountant and programmer… so it’s probably just me wanting the most logic, but still! Keep numbers dang it (:
Because the next game is Halo 5: Reclamation.
Just a theory of mine.

My favs are FF10 and FF3 and 4. 1-9 are on IOS and Android and 3 and 4 have 3D graphics
Kiki or Bonnie or someone said that they were trying to get away from the whole numerical sequence thing because it doesn’t really imbue the game with any kind of personality.

This. Also, the original was Halo: Combat Evolved, so it’s not the first time they’ve used a sub name.

This. I don’t have a link for you, but I remember 343 saying this when they announced H5’s title.

Reclaimer Saga | Halo Alpha | Fandom. Halo 4 is part of the Reclaimer Saga though. Combat Evolved was the first, but I always thought that was because it would make the title more catchy instead of having only one word. Either way, all the theories are pretty cool. I guess this topic will get cleared up once they announce the next title.
