It feels a bit inconsistent and underpowered…It’s a POWER weapon.
Sometimes you put an EMP charge right at the enemy’s feet and they just walk it off… a slightly larger blast radius/damage output would be beneficial.

I think if you EMP with it, it does less damage. Seems fine the way it is to me.

It was never that way before, I don’t believe… in Reach, you basically had to use the EMP function to ensure a kill on a fully shielded enemy.

But… I expect it to be as effective as it is in Reach? …and it’s clearly not?
If anything, it needs a nerf to bring it in line with the Reach variant.

It’s definitely weaker than the Reach one, in my experience… I used to destroy with the Reach GL. Now it’s like I get an instakill 20% of the time, when I used to get it closer to 80% of the time.
Maybe it’s just the scale of the game making it more difficult, but it seems that if it were to remain as effective as it used to, given the size of environments and Thrusters, it would require just a little more damage output and/or splash range.
8:00 in a recent Proximitty vid… similar frustrations.… His first shot looks good enough for a kill, yet the guy just walks it off… I’m the first person to advocate a skillful GL/remote detonation weapon, but it just seems a tad weak.

I’m pretty sure it’s this, emp is weaker, well timed non emp is stronger.
Its ok how it is if anything don’t buff something that’s already powerful. All what needs to happen is just put the blue version of the grenade launcher instead of the standard one.

Sure, but the “Pro Pipe” variant bounces AT players, removing the skill element…

Well if had to pick i would much rather see someone die when I shoot someone then them living from it. What’s the point and finding the weapon and using it only to fail at killing the player. If that happens to me I’m not going for it in the future which makes it a pointless weapon on the map. Which is something we don’t need in matchmaking.
I wish it had the yellow indicator which let you know when someone was near the nade. If it has something similar, I still haven’t noticed it.

I was thinking the same thing as I watched over and over again. The guy’s shields weren’t even knocked out which usually means the grenade didn’t detonate close enough. So I’m gonna have attribute that instance to gunner error.

That was another guy running through the doorway… they were knocked out, but what? The grenade needs to be a fly on the dudes arm to kill them? That was within a foot of the guy’s feet!
So now think, with the scale of the game, map geometry being stretched, range of engagements stretched… a remotely detonated shot from a greater distance needs to be reasonably effective relative to Reach’s original balance… a lot can happen at a greater range, and now players can thrust and pull evasive maneuvers they couldn’t do in Reach.
It just doesn’t feel properly balanced. If even up close, you have to have the grenade basically touching them to take them out, imagine having to place a shot with that level of precision at range… It’s a tad weak, all things considered. Everyone I talk to in-game, all experienced Halo players, tend to agree. It is not as effective as its Reach counterpart.
From my understanding, to use it effectively you DON’T hold the trigger. It does more damage that way. The secondary EMP is weaker and only for vehicles.
