I’m not new to Halo, but I am to the forums and such and I’m not the worlds best player as my stats show…so I was wondering from you exceptionally talented people: do you have any tips for improving? Warzone, I’m not so bad at but Arena…Sometimes it’s painful. Please refrain from any n00b jokes, I’m aware I am inexperienced and I would like to learn!

Arena is just pretty hard to everyone who is not a pro, so don’t worry, you’re not alone. The lack of social playlists makes this game super competitive, so I would recommend you to practice and the most important thing: take three friends to play with and be communicated

-Thruster pack, make use of it excessively.
-Control power weapons, don’t be afraid of being called a noob for using a rocket launcher, that is how you win
-Focus on the objective be it killing spartans, capturing the flag or holding a stronghold
-If you can get some of your friends together in a fireteam and communicate during the game

Hope it helped!!

Kill enemies. Acquire REQ points

well first things first, you need to customize your look sensitivity and your deadzones to something thats feels comfortable for you. May help your aim in the long run. Other than that maybe run around the maps in customs, find the best route to power weapons or trick roughts you can to to get behind players, there are plenty. Oh one more thing, when your getting shot from behind and your running away, look down somewhat, it will reduce your chances of getting headshotted. Oh dont rely on ADS with BR or DMR, hip firing is more effective.

We all have to start somewhere, it took me a while to get (at the very least) consistent performances in Arena (My K/D does not reflect this because I play Warzone Assault, and well… yeah.)

As far as improving, one of the first things that should be practiced is aiming for the head. I’ve met quite a few people who didn’t know of this and got better after they realized as such. Finding a good, comfortable aim setup in your controls will help make this easier.

As for the other stuff? It helps in this game not to charge like a loon, and it certainly helps if you develop skills in vehicles. If you can’t get kills with weapons, then driving is a good substitute for that. However, it does require practice and a lot of observation to properly nail down the mechanics, as well as finding ways to keep your passengers alive.

Other than that? Communication with others can make a lot of difference.

Eden and Empire mainly for myself

I’ve been in your shoes for a while. I sucked really badly when the Halo 5 beta came out as I wasn’t used to the new changes it brought in. But eventually I grew out. Try and find friends to play with you in Arena, teamwork is key. Use thrusters when you need to, and not too early. Same can be said for Spartan abilities. If you can, land dem headshots for swift kills. I suggest using Magnum for a bit and then switching out the BR after a while. In the end, it’s just a game, so try and have fun as well, win or lose.

Nothing to do but practice, and Warzone Assault is probably the best place to learn fights in a more forgiving atmosphere while still catching the hang of controls and maneuvering.

  • Sprint less (Keep your weapon ready) - Save your boost for when you need it (to dodge, evade or get to cover) - Use the right weapon for the right job (know what range each weapon excels at) - Try to stay with a teammate - Don’t jump to avoid getting shot. It’s too easy to track jump movements. Use lateral movements (strafing).

For arena, grab a couple of buddies and learn a set of callouts you’ll all understand, communication is the key. Try to stick together when you can and watch each others backs. Become familiar with weapon and power up spawns and your team will be pretty successful the more you play together.

Thats pretty much all there is to it for arena, you’ll get stomped here and there but teamwork is pretty much a requirement for this halo game.

Ontop of everything that’s been mentioned so far, something I still struggle with as a seasoned Halo player is simply patience. I’ve gotten much better about it, but running back to where you died, or running blindly anywhere in a match will get you killed far more times than you should. Arena (and Halo in general) is not all about skill with a gun, or Spartan abilities. Strategy and observation of your opponent’s play style is just as much, if not more important than your gun skills. My abilities with the guns in the game are decent, but far from exceptional. My patience and thoughtfulness of my actions saves my skin a lot of the time, so just use your head, friend.

The best way to get better…

TALK TO YOUR TEAM!! A good team ( or pug or that matter) are always talking and calling out to each other. My main playing partner and I immediately do better once we start talking to each other

Im average at best but feel free to add me if you wanna practice some friendly 1v1s

Stick with your team mates and pay attention to the indicator above their heads. Also time power ups, they spawn 2 minutes after pic up (actually 2 minutes and 2 seconds but that doesn’t matter).

The membership here have given you some extremely good advice. Only thing I can add is to emphasize getting your controller settings set to how you play and feel best responds to your input. Also, just keep practicing and have patients.

You can always friend me to have someone to team up with or to set-up some custom games where we can just run around and practice tactics with the mics on.

Everyone has to start somewhere- usually at the bottom!

Don’t let anyone hassle you or bring you down. You’ll get better as you gain experience.

Also, you may want to watch some high quality play videos of games on twitch or you tube like the recent X-games matches.

Good luck!
