Mythic Firefight on Darkstar

Okay, I love Mythic Firefight. It really should be its own permanent playlist. Maps can rotate weekly as they do now, and Turbo can be the one that stays for a weekend then leaves. Maybe even have a Warzone KOTH or CTF type for a weekend.

That being said, every time I see the “Defend the Generators” round pop up in Mythic Darkstar, I curse and grind my teeth. Every time it’s ended in failure, and only once did we last long enough for the “A few targets left…” announcement to come up.

We have two mantises inside, a wraith ultra and a phaeton outside, and the res tof the spartans guarding the doorways? A swarm of Knights and Crawlers spawn right outside, dash through the doors, run past all of us and start nuking the generators. One game we lost a generator within the first forty seconds. Today it’s come up three games in a row, and each time it was a failure. It feels like Defend the Garage from the beta sometimes xD

There’s some tough rounds, but the Generator one is just infuriating for me; more so than ever before. Other than that one single round, it’s been a blast. (The mantis round comes close, but at least we’ve got a fair shot at winning)
What about everyone else? What’s your experience with the Defend the Generators? Is there some other round you hate with a passion?

I don’t think I actually ever got past that round in pre-Monitor’s Bounty Firefight. It was such a pain in the -Yoink-. And the times I got close I would run out of Battle Rifle ammunition (even with the Patrol Case armor mod) and get killed. It sucked.

I have never gotten that round because me any my team never get that far. We can only get to round 2 with that -Yoinking!- “Defend the Armory” with those -Yoinking!- Prometheans.

Oi, that round… Brutal for a Round 2. If I’m lucky enough to be at 3 I’ll call in a gungoose, Ultra/Temple ghost, or if possible a Wasp. Helps a ton. So do Plasma Launchers… But wow, just… It’s just brutal for Round 2. :frowning:

That’s not all! Once, we even got it as a ROUND 1!

That’s the game spitting in your face if I ever saw it DX
The covenant defend the armory’s easy, but the promethean one is a pain, especially when it comes so soon (or Forerunners forbid, having it come in Round 1)

You just have to coordinate with your team and have everyone have powerful vehicles.

Tough to do when you’re the only one with a mic.

Last round all but two people were in a vehicle. We still lost. The crawlers come in from three different places, run right past everyone and everything, and then just start spamming shots at the generator like a desperate attacker in Warzone Assault - Speed Boost past everything and try and get as many SMG shots in as you can before your inevitable death.
The knights? They either stand back on that building in front and take potshots at it with Lightrifles and Incineration Cannons, or just do the crawler thing and walk past your vehicles to nuke the last remaining generator.
Soldiers are more of the same, except they teleport on over so you can’t actually damage them until they’re already getting some free shots in on the generators.

That’s your best shot at having any remote chance of passing it sure, but it’s still a “Beta Garage 2.0” to me.

Alright, so I just played a match of Mythic FF. Thankfully, I did not have to deal with defending the generators. Instead, I got stuck with the four Phaeton bosses. I got a Banshee Ultra and they tore me to bits after I got two down. Then I got a Phaeton Helios for the last round and we barely won. It was somewhere in between “fun” and “dear god let me escape this nightmare”.

Defending the generators is a pain in the neck :frowning:

It’s definitely the Beta Garage. A pain in the everywhere place. Don’t think it’ll be nerfed any time soon though, if ever :’(

Gots to destroy them from the outside, only way to getting past on them generators

I don’t know about the generator stage (not sure I have had to do that yet) but I finished my first mythic firefight yesterday when on Darkstar. The map they had last week we just never got past the final stage. Still a bit rough sometimes when you have to defend the armoury (or garage) on Darkstar but still managing to clear them out before they take it.

Darkstar can be either really easy or really unforgiving, depending on what spawns. My Round 4 was defeat 1 Warden Eternal in Home Base, almost a freebie. If it’s a Grunt Goblin, same thing.

So the maps are weekly?

One time I lost as soon as the knights came in cuz they just start Inceration charging them and It’s a one shot too.

Every single time I have had that for the 4th round. Always lost in that round as well. Granted a few times players felt a vehicle wasn’t needed and that was part of it.
There needs to be 2-3 outside with vehicles and the rest inside with vehicles to beat them.

One trick I learned even though it’s a waste of vehicle sometimes is park a warthog I front of the generators (or doors of buildings) a lot less shots get off on the target. Defending buildings works as they don’t go through that door but around to another one.

This map isn’t too bad just those defend rounds on 2 and 4 are near impossible… Especially when i play with incompetent randoms who move the warthogs i use to block the doors or just stand outside the armory and let the enemies run in. Ghosts are your best friend on those, temple for round 2 and ultras for round 4. I haven’t failed round 4 but round 2 should be a round 3 on mythic. It’s way too easy on heroic and legendary but mythic… it’s impossible

Hey guys, feel free to add me if you need a WZFF Mythic buddy, Its literally almost all i play. I usually play about 6-10 hrs of mythic a weekend if not more. My loss rate is high but thats because i’m always solo queuing and only so much one can do. I’m usually the top killer with the most headshots and if not i’m always in the top 4 scorers.
Just make sure you have a mic and are willing to work together and we grind get more round 5 finishes. More round 5 finishes=more XP and REQ pts.

The 'Defend the…" rounds on any map are either uber easy or uber hard, there’s never a middle ground :B

Come to think of it… I wonder if they considered a “Capture the X” objective. Have a ton of enemies spawn in the Fortress, Monument, homebase, etc and then you run in and try and clear it out as enemies constantly pour in periodically. Instead of defending, you’re attacking!
