I’ve just got back into H5 after a long break - now grinding Warzone Heroic Firefight because that’s the only mode with consistent matchmaking.
I got a massive drop of 6x Gold Req Packs even though I didn’t fork out points for them - has anyone encountered this gift before and do they know why it occurred?
My other question is - even if I’m playing on my own, do my boss kills in Warzone Firefight contribute to Spartan Company Commendations? Even when I wasn’t playing H5 I occasionally got Company Commendation Req Packs, which just contained a lot of crappy common items.
I once got those 6 gold packs from warzone. I didn’t do well that round, as far as I know, so it might be how well your team did, or just randomized.
Warzone firefight grants you gold packs for completing your individual kill commendations.
MonkOfWar4, CrimsonFlames25 there is a commendation titled “WARZONE FIREFIGHT VICTORY” that grants increasing amount of gold packs for completing tiers of the commendation.

As long as you are still a member of a Spartan Company with 4 or more members you will contribute to the Company commendations when you play.
You don’t need to have anyone else from the Company in the match with you. But it can be more fun! Reach out to them and team up!
You completed the warzone firefight mastery commendation which awards 5 gold packs.
The sub-commendation you completed at the same time accounts for the 6th gold pack you received.
Yeah the same thing happened to me but that was when they first introduce them. So it;s a good way to rake in the good reqs though.
Thanks for the replies. Normally when I reach commendation milestones (which are getting fewer and further apart), I only remember getting silver commendation packs.
I have got all Common permanent unlocks after spamming on Bronze Req Packs, now I’m concentrating on Silvers. (Should have done this when I first bought H5, but stupidly got Gold ones for a long time before anyone steered me towards Silvers).
Do I stand a better chance of getting good permanent unlocks if I save up to get several Silver packs in one go or will it not make a difference if I get one Silver when I hit 5000 Req Points? I really want to finish getting Uncommon - Rare perm unlocks before moving on to Gold, because I covet the Halo 2 BR/Ultra Rare Magnums/DMRs and certifications for vehicles/power weapons I like.
To answer your first question, there’s a commendation for getting 100 wins in Firefight that grants you 6 gold packs. It’s the most generous commendation in the game.
To answer your second question, it doesn’t matter how many you buy at once since there’s a random set of unlocks generated for each pack. The items you unlock are then removed from the pool of items available to unlock in the next pack. The RNG system only looks at the items available that are locked and then picks out two random items. The time period over which you open those packs does not matter. So basically, open at 5000 RP if you desire.
