Mysterious achievement icon at halo waypoint

Hey guys,

I just stumbled across THIS in Halo Waypoint (XBOX360):

Mysterious Icon Picture 1

Mysterious Icon Picture 2

Mysterious Icon Picture 3

it is definitely not the normal Icon for Halo CEAs “Wraith-Hunter” Achievement which looks like that:

Wraith-Hunter Icon

I think this is a Icon that should not be shown to us yet.

My wildest guess? Maybe an achievement icon already prepared for Halo 4?

I mean, why should they change the “Wraith-Hunter” Icon? This “new” Icon does not figure with the other Halo CEA Icons, because it has a different style. Plus, the “1” that is shown on the icon makes no sense in connection with the “Wraith-Hunter” achievement.

It also is not the icon of any other known Halo achievement, and i have all of them.

To me this looks like a LEAK.

maybe not a leak. more likely a glitch.

I have it too. Though with how Waypoint has been acting lately, it’s probably just a glitch

Ω

> maybe not a leak. more likely a glitch.

Well, possible. But who made this Icon? And for what purpose?

It is NOT the icon of any other known Halo achievement. But is obviously IS a Halo achievement icon.

So why does it exist? Why was it designed?

Of course, it could just be an icon that was designed once for one of the Halo games we know, then not used, forgotten, and now glitched into to system and is displayed instead of the original “wraith hunter” icon.

But I think it a lot more likely a “new” icon, designed for a new Halo game. And that is most likely Halo 4. The icon also looks very “modern” and not like any achievement icon that was designed and seen ever before.

immediately jumps to conclusions

Oh lawd, Halo 4, guize!

Waypoint is probably going to be updated before Halo 4 is released to support it more, as far as I can see, there is no Halo 4 support.

Besides, medals are the last thing a company focuses on for Achievements, the game is still not finished.

I am definitely not “jumping” to that conclusion, one is just drawn to that conclusion.

I would love to hear a more probable explanation for this icon, but until now no one here could give such an explanation.

So frankly I am quite amazed that obviously most people here do not think that this is a leaked “new” (and therefore most likely Halo 4) achievement icon, but can not provide any logical explanation why this icon was sighted.

Some people here say that it is “just a glitch”, which makes no sense at all, because a glitch won’t design a completely new achievement icon. A glitch could cause a wrong already known icon to display instead of the right already known icon, a glitch could cause an error so that no icon shows up at all, but a glitch will not design an icon that no one has ever seen before.

So it was most likely designed by someone at 343i / the Waypoint team. So why would they do that?

The other explanation I read here is: “They are going to update Waypoint once more, before Halo 4 comes out.”

Well, that is a good idea, given the fact that both, Halo Waypoint here on the homepage and Halo Waypoint at XBOX360 are really buggy. We all know the problems here on the page (not showing games you played) and on Waypoint for the XBOX360 (not showing a whole bunch of icons for the achievements).

So do you think the Waypoint team says: “Hey, we have nothing to do with our time, let’s redesign all 297 icons for the halo achievements at waypoint”. Highly unlikely. They really have other stuff to work on, without wasting their time on completely unnecessary work. Why should they even redesign just a part of those icons?

That being said, I have to stick with the conclusion, that this is an icon which was designed for a new set of achievements. And which game could those achievements be for? Well all I know about is Halo 4.

It could of course also be for a new set of achievements for Halo Reach. But that would also be a leak then.

They’re not saying that the icon itself is was created by a glitch. They’re saying that the wrong icon is being displayed, and that that is a glitch.

A leak would be more along the lines of someone deliberately obtaining and releasing company secrets. You’re just posting a picture of an interesting glitch, which may or may not involve an achievement icon from Halo 4.

Maybe a new achievement for reach, it does have another 50g left.

Did u ever think it may have been a halo CEA achiev that was made but scrapped for a better looking one?? Could be just one of many that didn’t make the cut.

It has to be a glitch in the system after the new update for Halo Waypoint was released.
