First impressions it feels really good smooth. But it does feel like it doesn’t know if it’s Halo 3 or Halo 5. I think they need to take out Sprint as much as the game is fine I feel like you can burn out because how fast paced it is. I feel what made the older Halo games great is you had a lot more one-on-one encounters sometimes two on one and you come out on top and it made you feel good about yourself. As far as the movement speed in this game goes you’re quickly move to a spot and you lose a lot of those one-on-one encounters. Also 343 for the love of God stop trying to change iconic weapons. You did it with the rocket launcher in Halo 5 and now you’re trying to do it with the shotgun. Hopefully the original shotguns in the game but Jesus stop it.
I feel that Infinite so far has found a really good middle ground between Halo 3 and 5, PvP is going to be fiercely competitive when we get a shot of that later on. Of all three games 343 have worked on, the old school fans are going to enjoy this one the most. Infinite is the long overdue modern twist on the franchise it’s absolutely fast paced, but is drastically slower than the last couple entries to the series.
Some aspects from Halo 5 on the other hand, feel more useless now than ever. Smart Scope is just a weird little zoom thing. Sprint gives very little speed boost. I never really slide unless its downhill. Halo 5 can be fun, but lets embrace Infinite as a new game. These features feel redundant, I wouldn’t mind seeing them gone but don’t care if they stick around.
I want to add another contesting opinion, I will be a little disappointed if the classic shotgun returns as anything but a power weapon. The Bulldog puts the shotgun into a comfortable place in the sandbox. It’s a great companion to the BR which is now fairly difficult to use up close, and damn spamming the trigger on that thing is satisfying as hell. A returning classic one-shot-kill shotgun needs to have very little ammo, very big damage, and decent range.
Last thing. I absolutely adore the commentary AIs. If anything bad happens to Circ, I will do horrible things.
Aside from numerous disconnects and odd performance, I’ve enjoyed it so far. The music is good, but the sound for weapons needs to be changed.
