I’m (somewhat) new here. I mostly spectate the forums and read what everyone is saying, and a lot of the time, depend on you folks for updates on the game, so thank you for that.
I wanted to take a chance and share my thoughts on the game so far. Being a player and fan of the series since Halo:CE (I was 11 years old. Prime video game age) I feel that I have a good understanding of what Halo is and what it deserves to be. We’re all entitled to our own opinions, this is just mine.
Multiplayer
This is where I spend most of my time in Halo. I love the story and I have experienced it all, but the multiplayer is where the replay value is for me. I think I got sucked into Halo’s multiplayer back in 2001 because I was able to relate it to Goldeneye on the N64. Not the lore of course, but the gameplay system. I think the progression Halo has taken with their multiplayer is spot on. The leap Bungie took with Halo Reach evolved the game in a productive way. The addition of armour abilities left me thinking, “Interesting, I gotta try this” and low and behold, it worked and was fun. Using the jet pack opened up many doors. I was getting older, and thinking of new ideas, “Wouldn’t it be awesome if we could fly up there to snipe?”. Halo 5 continues to keep it fast paced, which Is much more fun and intense. I finally feel like my in-game character is just like the spartans being portrayed in game cinematics.
This video is a decent example of how old Halo would relate to how they’re portrayed:

Warzone
I mean, it’s Titanfall brought into Halo, but I really think it works with Halo. REQ cards are from Titanfall too, but again, I think it works with Halo. If it works, then I’m more then happy to embrace it. I appreciate that some proceeds from purchased REQ packs are put towards the HCS tournament prize pool. It makes me want to buy a couple just so I can show my support. Warzone couldn’t have been a better new addition. It brings everything we’ve loved about the past games (firefight, invasion, arena, big team battle, etc) and warps it into one game type, and you know what, lets make it even more crazy fun and throw in REQ cards. Yes. Yes this will make for some great experiences.
Sprint is here to stay, and for the better. This brings me back to having my in-game character portrayed correctly. Spartans are super humans. They can run fast. And the way they implemented your shield to your sprint was the perfect way keep everyone happy. Can’t count how many times I stopped myself from sprinting just so I could recharge.
Breakout
Won’t lie, not sure if this is what they’re calling it. But man, finally! Been waiting for something like this. 1 life, paintball-esque environment, arena gameplay. This is totally my style so I’m a little biased. This is as competitive as it gets. I really look forward to seeing what more they do with this since the beta. Nothing gets me harder then hearing that “Perrrrrrfect” after a clean 3 shot BR kill".
Campaign
Now here is where I’ll be honest, I’ve never dwelled deeper into the lore past the games campaign. Meaning, I haven’t read the books, comics, watched the various series, or even listened to the Hunt The Truth series. So I don’t want to mark my territory in somewhere I don’t know much about, but I will say I love what they did by adding the squad combat. Finally our team doesn’t die a couple minutes into each mission. As powerful as spartans are made out to be, I still think realistically they need a team to be THAT powerful against the enemy armies. Truthfully, I for some reason, don’t like Spartan Locke. I don’t even know whats going on and I still don’t like him. He’s hunting Chief. I’m programmed not to like him. I think 343i is going to be throwing us a major curveball with this story, and I really look forward to seeing what it is.
I’m going to end it here before this post gets even longer. Just my opinions, and I wanted to share. I think Halo 5 is a fantastic progression on the series. If the game kept the same mechanics over 14 years, it would turn into Assassins Creed or the EA Sports games. Same game every year, and thats why I lost interest in those games. I guess I’m trusting my instincts on this game, cause I ain’t gunna lie to you boys, I have the same hype feeling as I did when I was 14 years old waiting for Halo 2 to come out. And that feeling feels wonderful, no matter what my girlfriend has to say about it, hehe.
Thanks for reading, and thanks for having me a part of the forums. Cheers!
