My Thoughts on The Recent Update

After hearing the update, and just want to drop my own thoughts here, coming from someone who’s played since CE.

After thinking about it, I have two sides to my thoughts, the more negative, disappointed and cynical side, and the benefit of the doubt. Let’s start with the negative.

After the backlash of Halo 5’s launch with the lack of split screen AND forge, you’d think they’d want avoid this problem this time, but here we are again, with them saying forge, and co-op campaign will not available at launch. I personally care more about the co-op than I do the forge, I don’t spend the majority of my time on customs and forge. I do acknowledge and recognize how important it may be for others. I DON’T feel good about leaving the co-op out of the campaign at launch, as I feel that co-op is extremely important to the campaign experience. While I have no problem playing alone, if I can, I prefer to experience some stories with a partner, or two. It doesn’t take 3 months for me to finish a campaign. While I have Game Pass, I can’t help but think about the people who will pay for the campaign. If at all possible, and if needed, at least delay the campaign or even let us flight it before launch so you can get it sorted before launch. Just give us the equivalent of a demo to mess around with.

Now for the benefit of the doubt. We tend the forget that Halo Infinite isn’t the simple $60 game. The multiplayer is being released alongside the campaign, but the multiplayer will be a free 2 play experience, while the campaign will be paid for. It’s also not like they’re outright removing split screen as they confirmed split screen will be available for the multiplayer, so you can still enjoy the game with your buddies, at least on the multiplayer side. From playing the technical preview, I’m fairly confident the multiplayer on it’s own may be an enjoyable experience at launch. However, I’ll see how that changes come next flight, this time dedicated to PVP and BTB. Do we even have a confirmed price point for campaign? Someone let me know if we do.

There’s no way they would delay the campaign because that’s what people will pay for.

Does anyone know what will be part of the free to play. Like when forge and if firefight come out, will they be part of the free to play? Sources would be appreciated.
