Personally, it took me WAY too long to even realize it was a Halo trailer. I was not prepared for that - which is a good thing. Anyway, here are my thoughts on the Infinite “engine demo” trailer:
- A brand new engine built specifically for Halo? Super cool. Can’t wait to see some major improvements in visuals, and hopefully AI, smoothness, and various other mechanics, systems, and features.
- Of course I’m in support of the new (classic) art style. However, I do have three concerns in this regard: Firstly, the UNSC soldiers seen in the trailer are wearing the UNSC Army BDUs from Halo: Reach. I hope this is not inaccurate(and they actually ARE Army soldiers), as Marines would not wear Army BDUs. Secondly, I hope there’s a canon explanation for why the Master Chief is back in “classic” Mark VI armor, among other redesigns. Thirdly - I do hope that certain, lore-heavy designs(such as the Sangheili-made Covenant vehicles from Halo 5) aren’t suddenly nonexistent for no explainable reason. I can live with the first and second things, but the third one’s almost heretical in my eyes - I won’t put popular opinion above the responsibility to remain consistent and accurate to established canon.
