In my opinion the Halo 5 pistol should be nerfed. I don’t really like how much it is used compared to other weapons.
The idea behind the pistol as a starting weapon is that you use it until you can find a better precision power weapon (BR, Carbine, etc.), and when it becomes too easy to kill people with, it eliminates the need for other precision weapons, which I don’t think should be the case at all since it wasn’t that way in the older halos (excluding Halo: CE, but that was the first game, so I’ll let it slide…).
Just expressing my personal thoughts
Edit: I think it should be 6 shots to kill, no more, just so the magnum is preferred for most mid to long range encounters, but not much closer unless required.
If the Halo 5 pistol was closer to the Halo 2 pistol (required 9 shots to kill) by being 7 shots to kill, it would open up the game to other weapons. You wouldn’t be decreasing the TTK of the H5 Pistol, but just be increasing the bullets to kill and reducing time between shots. It would reduce its effectiveness at longer ranges, which will open the range up for BRs, and other mid range weapons.

Son, its the starting weapon of the game.
In the right hands in can be devastating which means its not OP, only means that it has a high skill-cap.
Anyone who knows how to use the DMR or the BR can outgun the Magnum easily, BUT it is also possible to do the vice versa if the “magnumer” is skilled enough.
Just practice and adjust, getting outgunned doesn’t mean something is OP. And if the “over using” is a problem to you, just gain an advantage by picking a weapon from around the map.
Weapon sandbox (not reqs) do not really need to be tweaked, in my opinion, they are perfect. The pistol used to be a 4sk if I remember correctly, and they moved it to 5. It seems to be better at 5. Autos are actually functional now. Storm rifle is a plausible weapon. The weapons are superbly balanced in this game
the only reason I state my opinions, is not for your viewing pleasure, it’s in hope that 343 views the data and sees that the majority like halo 5, even if they aren’t vocal. I’d rather not not have 5000 people get a game they enjoy throughly and have hundreds of thousands of people hate it.
The point of the pistol as it is, is to allow the players who were not able to get those superior weapon pick-ups (BR,DMR etc.) to at least stand a chance against them. At mid and close range the BR has the upper hand though with the pistol being a 5 shot kill the user still has a chance to capitalize on a mistake the BR player makes. Nerfing the pistol only reduces the pistol users ability to capitalize on those mistakes and makes the pistol useless in the overall sandbox. (ps. the pistols sucked in past halo, besides H1 where it was legitimatly OP)

I was just about to pretty much the same thing.
Also, if you nerf the pistol, then it would render it useless against an assault rifle and people would stop using it.

If they nerfed it a little bit, then people would start to use the AR in close quarters more often rather than more skilled players never using the AR. The idea would be that the pistol is used medium to long range and the AR is used short to medium. It just seems to make more sense.
Right here everyone, is the reason of why the weapons were never equal to each other before Halo 5. Because everyone complained about it being overpowered. The pistol is not overpowered. It just sounds like you have a case of Trying-To-Play-Halo-5-Like-Halo-2-Or-3itis, where, since you’re so accustomed to the sandbox of Halo 2/3, where the pistol is so useless, that the AR was the only starting weapon used. And so, since you’re so used to playing like that, instead of using the pistol, where it is truly useful once again (imo Reach’s Pistol didn’t quite fit the role of a longer range starting weapon), you continue to use the AR like it is better than the Magnum. Learn that Halo 5 is more about using the best weapon for the situation, not only using the AR until you find the BR.
I like it actually. The Magnum doesn’t beat the BR at any range and the DMR even more so. As a starting weapon, I like that a skilled player can rack up some nice kills with it.

The AR should be the preferred weapon of choice in most CQ situations, and the magnum should be used in most long range combats. But when people stop using the AR completely in favor of the magnum for long AND close ranges, then I have a problem.

But then… Magnum Vs. Magnum = Fair. What are you complaining about? If both opponents are using the Magnum then it is a fair fight. If the Magnum beat the AR in CQC, then there is a problem. Is this thread just you trying to get people to stop using their preferred weapon of choice? Wait, I read it again. This is the dumbest reason to nerf a weapon. So, if I’m reading this right, you want a weapon to be nerfed because a lot of people use it. This is literally stupid. Why would you ever have a problem with people handicapping themselves by using a precision weapon in CQC? Do you not like having a fair advantage because the opposing player is brain dead when it comes to weapons?
