Recently, Dr. Disrespect reviewed the campaign overview trailer. In which he began to diminish the game with the words " I see an 11, 12, 13 year old demographic here, maybe 14, 15" before then going on a rant about how Halo Infinite will not survive without a Battle Royale. I heavily disagree with this.
If we take a look at twitch, and see what is currently trending, we will see ( at the time of me uploading this) GTA, Minecraft, LoL, CSGO, and FIFA. BR’s such as Warzone, Fortnite, And Apex, are averaging 90-60k views. however CSGO-An Arena shooter- is at 178k.
Dr Disrespect says the game will not survive and such but that is not the truth. The truth is, He won’t survive if he streams it. The more tech advanced and tech inclusive the world gets, the lower the age of our crowd gets. And currently, the little ones are obsessed with Battle Royales such as Apex, Warzone, and Fortnite. But only when there are updates to the games.
Dr Disrespect is a content creator that only creates content on what is considered popular, in fact, most YouTubers are that way because it is a solid way of staying relevant. During the Halo drought, we saw members of our community like HiddenXperia go into SCP and even starting his own cooking channel. (by the way that Moa Burger looked beautiful)
Battle Royales struggle in between updates because it is a repetitive loop. You land, grab a weapon, scavenge, fight, win or die. Its such a brain-dead and obvious loop that Fortnite made it a part of its Canon!
However, Arena games don’t struggle from this as much. Updates are more frequent, gameplay is quicker and more intense and Enemies are always varied.
So will Halo Infinite survive without a Battle Royale? Most likely. Will Dr. Disrespect? Most likely not
