Hey, just thought I’d add my thoughts to all the others posted here.
On Inputs:
I’ve been playing on MnK most of the flight5 since that’s the input I prefer, though I have played a few games on controller. I think the aim assist could be a bit better on controller, but I think it isn’t easy to aim in this game on MnK either. People in this game are fast and strafe really quickly which makes aiming on MnK very hard, but that might just be I haven’t gotten used to it yet. For controllers the aim assist just feels really inconsistent, sometimes you don’t even have to touch the stick, other times you would have to be a robot to stay on target. I think honestly leaving MnK as is and buffing controller aim assist would be fine, but regardless I think input based matchmaking is a must (at least for competitive modes), Otherwise MnK has to spend all their thinking time on aiming and controllers can’t be up to snuff compared to good MnK players.
On Weapon balance:
I think the AR should honestly just have less range, the problem (for me at least) is that its easy to at least strip shields from across the map with the AR, whereas it should probably be closer to a peashooter at medium-long range. I also believe the AR isn’t as big of a problem as the Sidekick. On a controller the gun isn’t amazing, but with a MnK it can easily trade, if not beat, every other gun in the game other than a power weapon. Just earlier today I beat a BR at long range on Recharge with the Sidekick (granted the guy I was dueling wasn’t playing it very well), and that really just shouldn’t happen. Otherwise I think pretty much every gun has a place and can perform well, just those two guns outshine everything else.
Overall, I’ve had a lot of fun even if people are trying their -Yoinks!- off, and I really enjoy the game. I think 343 has done a good job with the game so far, and I’m looking forward to their solutions for the problems people are putting up on the forums. Have a good day playing Halo on your Sunday :).
P.S: if you’re on PC and are having performance issues with an NVIDIA card, update your graphics drivers to the latest, I was getting terrible frame dips constantly before and now the game runs like butter.
