You guys: Oh no! 343 is actually letting Halo evolve? What? No! I want to pay for the same rehashed experience every 3 years like I have always been. Not to mention despite not playing the game yet I can say 100% for sure that none of this will work, solely on the fact that is is different.
Seriously kids. Go to bed. When the game comes out and if these things don’t work out, THEN complain. But seriously Im pretty sure 343 knows that they’re doing. They have some ex-Bungie employees over there and know what makes Halo… Halo. I’ll place my faith in their judgement over the lot of you. Because you all sound like a bunch of whiny crybabies right now.
There is a difference between changing a game in a series so that it does not replicate its predecessor, and completely screwing core gameplay and destroying what a series is.
People don’t mind it evolving, but when CoD style things like Spartan points, Spartan Ops, instant respawn and other such things are integrated, people will rage for good reason. Halo has its set play-style that can be improved yet still remain Halo.

It’s not a matter of Halo’s evolution but how its evolving. I personally don’t want the same game rehashed but I definitely don’t want changes that alienate me and twist the core mechanics of Halo

Both Halo 3 and Reach were living breathing proof that the formula is dated in my opinion. They tried experimenting with equipment and such and due to the nature of gameplay mechanics, it never worked. Thats why they are reworking the mechanics. It’s not an overhaul however. It is simply an evolved gameplay system. Also Spartan Point = Credits from Reach. Not from CoD…
It will feel like Halo, but it will actually feel fresh again.
Once again. None of you have played it so stop complaining. It’s 343’s game. If you want to same game go play Reach of Halo 3.

Different doesn’t mean bad and/or screwed. Change can certainly be good people. Jesus.

Ok, the main point of them revealing this info is to give us an idea of how it is going to play. Well… From what we hear, From the mouths of people who played it. this is what we have
And this is all we can talk about. So, i wouldn’t say his opinion is write. But from what we are hearing. Its pretty darn close.

Was what 343i is doing with Halo actual evolution, I would have no problems with what they are doing. But the sad truth is, taking gameplay mechanics from other games that most certainly won’t work well with your game can hardly be called evolution. You see, evolution is progress. In case of Halo, evolution would mean the game becomes better. But all of these changes are only making the game worse.
All of the loadouts, progression system, sprint as default and so on are only making the game less unique and more of a generic modern military shooter that has already been done hundreds of times in the years between 2007 and 2012. Aside from that, none of the additions doesn’t work well with the gameplay of Halo. For example, Halo is all about balance, custom loadouts obviously, especially with armor abilities, make the game more imbalanced in one way or another.
So no, what 343i is doing for Halo is not evolution, devolution at best. All the new additions make the game worse in one way or another.

See there, that is purely opinion. While CoD isn’t my favorite shooter, I can say honestly that it is a good game. I guess Im just not biased fanboy like some here. Also Halo lost that title after Halo 2 and 3. The gameplay is becoming dated and needs to evolve in order to keep it’s player interest.
Either embrace the changes, or be a crybaby who hates the thought of change and go play Halo 3, since thats exactly what you want Halo 4 to be.

I’ll be condescending all I want. Im not doing so because you people have a different opinon. Im doing so because you’re all so thick-headed you won’t bother to stop and think “Gee, maybe I should reserve my judgement for when I actually play the game. Maybe, just maybe, Im being slightly ridiculous and need to take a chill pill”.
I’m quite familiar with some in the Halo fanbase and you guys always act like this and I can’t help but feel sorry for 343 for getting so much heat despite them doing what I believe is a fantastic job.

ummm halo 2 and 3 kept the fundamentals
halo “lost the title” with reach which changed everything like how H4 will, so really dramatic change has only lead to problems thus far
