Warning: Long but insightful post ahead
I have been a long time fan of Halo since I first played Halo 2. The series has came a long way and it is one of my favorites. I played every game/spinoff such a spartan assault, Reach, Halo Wars, ODST, ETC, so I was really looking forward to the campaign and multiplayer, but I can’t help but feel a bit dissappointed (I bought the Xbox One to play Halo 5).
First off, the campaign was fun to play. The new iron sights a la Call of duty took me a while to get used to, but after a while it had a Halo feel to it. It was a nice addition. The Spartan dash/boost took a while to get used to so I completely ignored it unless I was fighting the warden/hunters. the gameplay itself was addicting, I just wanted to come home from work just to play it and I also woke up early to put a few hours as well. I can’t wait to go again on Legendary.
i was gonna takes Xbox to my friends house for some coop split screen, I even bought a controller for it. Only to find out there is no split screen whatsoever. It was odd since Halo started off as local multiplayer sessions. I am really really upset.
I was actually looking forward to playing as Agent Locke and his hunt for the Master Chief. The Ads for the game made it seem like there was going to be an epic confrontation. But when I finished the game, it was a let down. None of what the game marketing ads said was gonna happen, happened. I really didn’t buy the whole Cortana believes she should control the universe like Skynet, and the Guardians gave Halo’s story a sort of Mass Effect Vibe like the Leviathans/Harbinger for each planet. Also, the wait to get revived was annoying, as well as the AI from the squad mates. But when the game concluded, I was looking forward to how Halo 6 is going to play out: will humans form a resistance and conduct a guerilla warfare campaign on Cortana’s forces? Is cortana really Cortana?
In other words, I really think Halo’s story should have concluded with Halo 3, because it was marketed as finish the fight. But more Halo is always nice.
The multiplayer on the other hand was a letdown. I had fond memories of playing Halo 3 for hours, All night sessions on Reach’s custom games, even playing Halo 4 20 hours straight. Many people say Halo 4 didn’t feel like Halo, but it felt like Halo to me. But I just don’t like Halo 5’s multiplayer. I’m trying to figure out what is wrong with it, but I seem I just can’t. Maybe it’s because we can’t customize our loadouts, power weapon spawns such as rockets, swords, are missing (weapon spawn control is an important aspect of Halo), multiplayer are so bland in my opinion, user interface is confusing, warzone is confusing, many of my favorite modes are missing as well.
I honestly think I should have bought the masterchief collection because I probably would have had more fun with the multiplayer. Can someone tell me if the online population still thriving on their? I had more fun with titanfall right now, and I hate call of city’s multiplayer.
Halo 5 seemed to borrow to heavily from other shooters. I also have a strange feeling 343 industries listened to my Sarcastic Rant from the Halo 4 forums and included many of my ideas from the post. Like bringing iron sights on weapons, red dot sights, in game purchases such as weapons, the boosts abilities. I was just making a point that None of what makes Call of duty, = call of duty was not included in Halo 4. many people thought halo 4 was COD-ified, but I still can’t see how. Kill streaks, attachments, perks, are what makes call of duty = call of duty. The ironic thing for me is that Halo 4 actually copied the grenade indicator, which I disliked because A: makes grenades useless and B: it came from Call Of Duty.
this game made me appreciated halo 4 multiplayer more. Sure, I got tired of that game after a year and moved on, but it was still a great experience. Nothing was more satisfying than noobs meleeing my hologram while scoring overkills on them during launch. In my opinion, CAll of duty Advanced Warfared copied many armor abilities from Halo 4 and included in COD AW. Of course, the developers added their own feel to it, but what I do not like is that Halo 5 appeared to copy COD AW’s own boost abilities instead of innovating again, even though halo 4 started it.
Thank you for reading my feedback, just wanted to hear ppls opinions on what I have to say.
