My thoughts on fixing the challenge system

So, probably one of my least favorite things with the game are the challenges. So my thoughts are simple,

  1. Get rid of challenges that require specific guns and change it to gun types Ex. Get Five kills with rifles, get 10 kills with power weapons, etc.
  2. Reward wins
  3. Win: 500 XP Lose 300 XP
  4. Win: 300 XP Lose 150 XP
  5. Win 300 XP Lose 150 XP
  6. Win 200 XP Lose 100 XP
  7. Win 200XP Lose 100 XP
  8. Win 200 XP Lose 100 XP
    7+ Win 100 XP Lose 50 XP
  9. Boom or Bust
Start a “Boom or Bust” And when you win you get 500 XP no matter has far into your session you are. Next win you get 750, then 1000, then 1250, and so on until 2000, but if you lose once it turns off and you get 0 XP for that loss.
This is what I think will help the challenge system, thoughts?

I like some of your ideas as alternatives to the challenge system. I really do. Some of it i would change but anything compared to current system would be welcome.

Yep. Challenges need to a more general… encourage good game play… and be accessible at all times.

Don’t lock into games that you can’t control coming up (eg. Oddball).

Focus more on wins, cumulative scores, total kills, etc.

If you want to encourage diverse play have challenges like; score a kill with 15 different weapons.

And I like the variable XP thing. I would like to see skill challenges with different reward tiers. eg. “score head shots in a game of slayer” - get 5 for 50XP, 10 for 100XP, and 15+ for 250XP.

For sure, I’d like too see more “Get 5000 points in BTB” As opposed to “Win a game of strongholds”

The challenge system definitely needs some drastic changes, but most social matches come down to who has the better Onyx level player to carry the team to victory, the least amount of quitters trying to RNG into a Strongholds match, and counting on their worst player to go 1-10 rather than 1-25. Individual performance must be incentivized.

As a mid-Onyx player I still get death threats in my messages. I can’t imagine how vile the inboxes full of hate mail for new players would get if a system like this was implemented.

I REALLY like this one. But there would need to be a way for the game to track which guns you’ve already used. Also do you think vehicles weapons and coils should count or just handheld guns and turrets?

Absolutley, get rid of specific challenges that make us rely on RNG (I don’t like having to choose quick play 6 times to try and get a Stronghold match, c’mon people)

And yes the progression system needs to be based on our performance, and the missions should give us BONUS Exp, not be the ONLY Exp, because 50 exp per match after the initial extra exp is really cheap. I’m really suprised they didn’t have the medals you earn throughout the match give you exp, that would be sick.
