I’m actually pretty excited to have some large(r) maps in Halo! I really enjoy the big team experiences that Halo gives to its players, and I feel like getting new big team maps will be great for people like me who enjoy large maps.
But really, is it necessary to make people pay for new maps at this point, releasing them a little over a month since the game first came out? Well, some may say yes. Many people are getting tired of the old maps, so many think we need new ones. What I don’t understand though, is WHY NOT ADD THE “FORGE WORLD” maps’ multiplayer variants to matchmaking? Ascent, Relay, and Settler can all act as additional maps in matchmaking, and would also all be FREE TO EVERYONE! The maps already exist on the game, so why not just add them to matchmaking if people are getting tired of the old ones? It’d be completely effortless for 343, and free for everyone.
My main question here is, “WHY WOULD 343 RELEASE A MAP PACK WHEN FILE SHARES AREN’T EVEN WORKING YET?” 343 released the game without a working File Share system, yet they already had the Crimson Map Pack complete before release. I understand that 343 is a company, and therefore needs to make money. But I really don’t appreciate how they’re already trying to exploit players and make easy money off them. Why did 343 even bother to make Forge World multiplayer variants, if they didn’t even intend to include them in matchmaking?
Again… I’m happy that they’re adding more “large” multiplayer maps, but I am not happy about how desperate 343 (or Microsoft (They’re basically the same thing)) is to make a quick profit. Games should be made for peoples’ enjoyment, not just to make millions of dollars.
On a side note, I love the look of the gameplay on the new maps, but I really don’t like them aesthetically. In other words, all these maps visually look boring. (IMO)
TL;DR: It’s nice to get some new maps, but I’m not happy with 343’s desperation to make some quick money. Also, the “forge world” multiplayer map variants should be added for FREE (since they’re on everyone’s disks) if people want something fresh, not “premium” maps.
What do you all think?
