My Thoughts After Reading Flight Feedback

If you haven’t read the recent post, read that first, you should go read it. (Won’t let me link for some reason)

So first, I am extremely excited for Halo Infinite and am very thankful to 343 for everything they’re doing. The game looks amazing and I’m confident it will be a great game. But I think we all share the sentiment of wanting it to be just as good as possible. So after playing a lot of both flights, taking notes, talking with other people, and reading this recent outcomes post, here are my main remaining concerns that were not addressed in the post. There are other concerns, but they are not as significant, in my opinion, to the ones I’m listing here:

When unlocking armor, allow equipping from unlock screen
This is simply quality of life and seems relatively easy to implement
Strafing is too fast, impossible to track, makes aim assist too strong
I play on PC and with no aim assist, the increased character movement acceleration in Infinite makes it very difficult to dual at close range when a player strafes back and forth
Need player collision
343 disagrees with me, but I’m going to say this forever. Halo is allowed to be a unique game that isn’t as “easy to play” as other games
Need friendly fire (ok with not being in BTB)
I don’t believe they’ve acknowledged this, but by saying there will be friendly fire in competitive, it implies no FF in social arena, which I disagree with
Should be able to hold powerup AND equipment (causes weird break in gameplay to swap for the powerup, activate, then pickup equipment)
I’m curious on everyone’s thoughts here. It feels really clunky in my opinion.
HUD indicator for camo timer
Self-explanatory quality of life thing
Replace invisible height barriers with soft kill box for better freedom of movement
Replace leavers with temporary bots in social game modes
Auto-matchmaking (toggle on/off)
AFK players need to be booted or implement vote to boot
Vehicles default keybinds are bad (ex. Passenger reload isn’t “R”)
I’m not sure if they just didn’t put any thought into default keybinds, but they’re mind bogglingly bad, which could turn off new PC players at launch
Better (any?) system for selecting different text chat channels (on PC)
Pings, ordnance indicators too small (allow customization?)
Plasma pistol NEEDS to EMP vehicles, however you make it happen
Needler tracking too weak (cannot hit walking target in weapon drill)
Vehicles drops pace too slow (in BTB)
Either this or the one below this need to happen. Not enough vehicles plain and simple.
Need more vehicles spawned at base at start, even if they don’t respawn
Over 15ish games I saw one game with a scorpion
Loot cave doors aren’t responsive enough, open too slowly
I hope they change this a little bit. Just feels like a clunky break in gameplay every time you go through a door

For context, I’ve been playing Halo since H2, put 2k+ hours into H3 and never stopped playing Halo. I switched to PC a few years ago. I’m no pro, but I’m not terrible. (pls do roast my service record thx).

Yea just want to hear what everyone thinks on some or all of these.

The strafe speed is a bit cracked, I agree. A more methodical strafe feels better for a tracking game like Halo. Surprised this wasn’t mentioned, it was a hot topic in the competitive community from what I gathered.

I think 343i didn’t want to see competitive running faster strafe speed so they just went with making both modes equal in that sense.

I was thinking of the strafe speed independently from walk speed. I think it has to do with the activation/cooldown in changing direction more so than the walk speed itself.

Add in 'Please 343 bring back the full-sized 25m radar in all game modes and I agree almost with all of that. Friendly fire off is gonna cause issues; makes explosives unbalanced and they didn’t address that at all. Collisions, while a nice thought, should be at least enabled for vertical; right now you can;t even buddy jump! Ping being larger and clearer would be good, though I guess that’ll be part of HUD customization once htye add that eventually. I do disagree about the equipment and power-ups; I think the idea is for camo and OS to be a sort of power equipment which I think is really cool.

Replacing leavers with temporary bots would be brilliant; I really, really hope they take that idea. That’s a really smart way to deal with it and implement the bots they’ve clearly worked so hard on.
