Ok, so recently a lot of people have been confused as to why out of all the possible weapons that could make a return to halo the classic beam rifle was put in. While I agree with this question I do have sort of a theory, and one I hope is correct. What if 343 is slowly trying to convert back to the classic art style like we have been requesting, as in the bungie era style, in a way that isn’t too sudden and that makes sense. Think about it, the weapons that have been put into halo 5 post launch are ones that have 343 art designs that are vastly different from the bungie ones, such as the battle rifle or the rocket launcher, or eventually the beam rifle. These weapons look very different between the two different art styles and have seen there classic designs return. Weapons such as the assault rifle or the gravity hammer or whatever look very similar between the two styles and therefor don’t need their classic variants to return, but others such as those discussed before do look different enough to warrant this. just a theory though… what are your thoughts on this.
Beam Rifle is still a weird place to go so early in this “conversion” though.

yeah, but it is one of the weapons with the most differences in terms of its look compared to the classic design. Or, who knows, maybe they just ran out of ideas, but I highly doubt it.
I believe it has more to do with adding additional reqs, than a back to basics strategy.

Or there was a massive community backlash about the new designs and 343i thought “Oh crap! We need to put the old weapon designs back into halo 5!”
I want the H2 style sniper back. If available in custom games the night vision would make for some very interesting play! Imagine duck hunt in the dark with sparse neon lighting!?!?
I also want an armor mod that, if I’m in my own captured base, it forces everyone in that location to lose their spartan abilities and gain increased base movement speed.

No there wasn’t. The only one was in regards to the Spnkr specifically.

Nah, he’s right, mostly. People aren’t crazy about the “ancient Sanghelios” Covie vehicle designs they added with Halo 5, and people have been “meh” about the armor since Halo 4, with things like the colored undersuits and just the general texture of the armor looking “plastic” or like “Power Rangers”

I didn’t think this thread was about the general art direction… I thought it was about the weapon designs as the OP is talking about which weapon designs have been reincarnated. I’m aware of all the topics you mentioned
In the end I am all for the return of classic weapon designs!
