With all the recent issues with people not getting their codes to unlock all eight specs in halo 4 I thought about it and came up with what I think 343 should have done. Also the brief story of this gamer contributed to my opinion.

First of all the basics: the rank cap is 130, you first gain the option to train in a special field at rank 50, each specialization consists of 10 ranks before you can switch to a new specialization.
With double xp from mountain dew and dorito’s you can breeze through the ranks on your way to max. This was considerably harder in reach as we needed 20 million credits to do it. I stopped at Forerunner myself.
In the bulletins we were told that the specializations would be unlocked over the span of many months after the games’ release; my take on this was that by releasing a specialization every few months people would be using one in particular for many months leading to eventual mastery of the chosen spec. Releasing them in the long term would also increase the games longevity. But instead we can have them all at once now.
If you read the article (it’s short) you’ll find that it took this man just a few weeks to hit max rank where as the ranking in past halo games would take much longer and would keep you playing. My idea on how I think it should have been done is this: You rank up to SP50 then get to choose a specialization. Seems the same right? Only thing is you should need more than 10 measly ranks to complete it. If each spec required 50 ranks to complete it would add much more enjoyment to playing. I remember I was excited whenever I was about to rank up in reach at the higher ranks, I would feel the same way in halo 4 if this was the case.
So in short 50 ranks to gain access to a specialization. That spec would then require 50 ranks to complete as would all other seven options. Because rank in halo 4 is just as meaningless as it was in reach this would increase the time needed to rank up considerably and would keep dedicated players playing.
Just what I thought was a good idea. I got my code days ago but haven’t used it yet, I’m more content to complete them over a span of months than trying to reach max rank as soon as possible.
