My take on multiplayer

After playing this game for the majority of the last 3 days, I figured I would post some feedback and suggestions on the multiplayer.

Infinity Slayer:

  • Feels over saturated with power weapons.
  • Promethean vision seems like the only viable armor ability in this hopper, and every one has it. The only exception I could think of for not using it would be if you are in a well communicating team of 4, in which case a couple members may find it better to switch to another ability.
  • Having said that, thruster pack is far too underpowered. Grenades are easy to dodge, vehicles are easy to avoid and considering how fast you die in this game, that half second loss of control is too much of a risk to take when in a gun fight. The only use I see for it is running away, and even then it’s iffy (Seems like it only goes half its max distance at times too (???))
  • Instant respawn makes most of the maps far too hectic. Being able to die and run back to your killer before their shields are even starting to recharge should not be able to happen.
  • Whatever system is used to match people up is either failing completely or may need some more time to properly place people. 90% of the games I’ve played end up with me having around 25 kills and the rest of my team mates scoring in teens and lower.

Big Team Infinity Slayer:

  • At times I feel that there are too many vehicles on the map at once, and not enough counter-vehicle weapons.
  • The fact that it takes 2 rockets to kill a banshee and multiple spartan lasers for the mantis also irks me, but I may be aiming at the wrong spot or missing entirely so I’ll leave this one up for debate.

Dominion:

  • More or less the same problems as BTIS, although worse since there are only 12 players max and more vehicles.
  • Too many power weapons, the few times I played I was killed 80% of the time with a power weapon. Rarely would I encounter a 1v1 rifle duel.

Regicide:

  • The counter balance of gradual power ups over time for the king vs bonus-points(that increase over time/kills(??))/way-point-over-king for everyone else doesn’t feel properly tuned. Being the king for a long time and getting ahead 60+ points just to be caught up in 2 deaths by the same person (max bonus points are 35) is extremely frustrating.

General:

  • Matchmaking system that needs improvement
  • This will get better as the hype for the game dies down, but the lag during peak times is unbearable.

Overall the game feels great though.

I’ll touch this up later as I get more experienced in the hoppers.
