My take on Halo 4 (long time COMPETITIVE fan)

First before I say anything, I would like to tell you about how much I used to love Halo and how much time I have spent on it.

I have gotten every game with the name Halo on it at midnight and completed the games on Legendary solo multiple times.

I’ve logged over 5,000 multiplayer games on Halo 2

Here is my main (first) account on Halo 3: http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Halo3/Default.aspx?player=time+is+credits&sg=1

It has over 10k games with 50s in Team Slayer, Team Doubles, Team Snipers, and Squad Battle. Every other playlist was 45 or higher.

Here is my stats for Reach: http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Reach/Default.aspx?player=time+is+credits&sg=0

Even though I though it was not near as good as Halo 3. I was #31 for overall credits with 48 days of playtime when my account got perma banned right before selling it for $600 on 3/4/11.

So I quit playing Reach, hoping Halo 4 will be the return of solid, simple Halo gameplay.

Okay now I can get to why I am extremely disappointed in what I read in the recent Game Informer. I know that the game will have basic core game modes, I already know that.

The problem is that the default Halo 4 gameplay will be nothing like MLG or any competitive game modes, the game will be split. And that is not a good thing, the reason I like Halo was because I could jump into any playlist and dominate people who were worse at the game. It wasn’t based on playtime or “Spartan points”, just plain simple Halo skill. Halo: CE wasn’t good because of attachments, upgrades, or armor abilities. It was because it had a solid gameplay mechanic. If you are the better player, you will win the fight.

I am sad to say this, but I will not even think about getting this game anymore. Halo has been ruined because consumers bought CoD every year because of -Yoink- little gimmicks and MS is trying to cash in.

Most of the people on these forums will flame me, IDC. They will play the game for two months and switch to something else. When Halo 3 was out that was all I played for 4 years, the game never left my disc tray.

it has been basically split since halo 3.

i would rather it be split and not have to deal with bad players in an MLG playlist, then for boosting kids to get up to my level and have me waste 15 minutes of my life on CTF.

we still have yet to see this stuff implemented, so just wait.

i did have a realization though, on custom loadouts. i think this will actually work well now. think about it…

on pit, what did everyone run for? br. someone on your team was left without one normally, and had to try to AR someone from a distance, or needle them…which never worked.

with this, you could just auto-start with the weapon you were going to want to grab anyways, and that speeds up the gameplay in a sense.

idk…im just not very pessimistic about this. there are things that annoyed me at first and scared the bejeebus out of me, but with every bit of info coming out, i feel better about it. i am thinking of how it sounds that they are being implemented, and how it will better the overall game.

AAs were never going to go away, but at least they are trying to tweak them so that they are balanced and fit different play styles better. they even added damage stagnation on sprint.

You, my friend, deserve to be inside me. THAT is how much I respect you.

Or…you could maybe VOTE FOR BRs. With this crap, now some players are just gonna spawn with a DMR and snipe you from a distance. All it does is add more and doesn’t fix a thing.
