My solution to 343i for Sprinting and ADS.

It’s quite simple really. Make it an option that can be turned on/off. I for one want Sprinting and ADS in game modes like Big Team Battle. I think it’s a natural progression and evolution of Halo. Not only that, I personally was hoping for even more than that. I was wanting power sliding, and the ability to grab hold of ledges that you jump to. These guys are super soldiers. A simple thing like pulling your self up a ledge should be a walk in the park. That being said, I understand some fans are stuck in the mud with old wooden wheelchairs and don’t like progression(insert back in my days story), so for them have the option to turn on/off sprinting and ADS. This is all coming from a ‘Day One’ original Xbox owner who played Halo more than any other game at that time. Well, at least until Halo come out on PC and had MP. I say yes to the “option” to have it in MP, and hell make it an option in SP also.

I’ve literally been arguing this since halo 4 dropped, all features should be optional, I like sprint, but those who don’t like it shouldn’t have it forced on them.

I really wish people would stop with the “these guys are super soldiers” arguments to justify gameplay mechanics. These guys are super soldiers why can’t they dual wield rocket launchers? These guys are super soldiers why can’t they run for longer than 5 seconds? Master chief is a super soldier who can see in the dark why does he need a flashlight? (extremely rhetorical question)

there are plenty of things super soldiers should be able to do but gameplay trumps canon. If you have a legitimate reason to why you want those thing in halo then by all means post them but the super soldier argument is not a viable argument. If it then we better be able to dual wield rocket launchers.

I personally don’t like ADS in Halo (it’s fine in games like Farcry, Destiny, and CoD; but not in Halo). Sprint … I can go either way.

ADS would annoy me since the guns are all future-blue-toothed to their Helmets.

Sprint took some getting used to. Since Reach introduced it as an AA, it was like dipping your toe in the water to get used to it enough by the time Halo 4 came out. Essentially, I got used to it, but I wouldn’t mind if it went away.

What I’m thrilled about is that they’re bringing back descope. Flinch made it nearly impossible to avoid a distant sniper since firing a few BR rounds wouldn’t knock him out of alignment enough.

Well, since ADS is just a cosmetic feature, apparently, I don’t mind it, though I would prefer it to be toggible (which I hear it is, according to Frankie).

Sprint I’d rather have gone, but I don’t care either way.

A legitimate reason? What is your definition of a legitimate reason? Because I already stated, I feel that since I am playing the role of Spartan aka A SUPER SOLDIER, I think I I should be able to sprint, slide, climb, jump, and aim like one. As far as I am concerned that is legitimate enough to state my desire to have such. Who are you to decide what is legitimate and what is not? Who are you? the 343/Halo forum Sheriff? If so, please let me know when the next election is because you will not get my vote. Have a nice a day.

I think ADS would only appear in scoped weapons like the BR, DMR,etc. So not all weapons would have ADS.

Maybe he should be able to fly forever too? Why does a super soldier need to walk. So old school. Why doesn’t he shoot like ironman?

Source on the toggle? Twitter post or what?

It’d be nice top have one modern shooter on my Xbox not revolve around ADS mechanics, if for no other reason than the simple fact that it changes the style of play dramatically (more emphasis on target tracking without ADS - rather than snapshots, namely) in any game and variety is always good.

A few modern-classics, such as Counter Strike have found a good middle ground in offing a couple sighted weapons that gain a range advantage but limit peripheral view during use while most weapons are still oldschool. I suspect that’s what they’ll be doing, there will be mid and long range weapons that don’t include an ADS, with a few that sort of fall in the middle - not quite as good up close without the sight, not quite as good far away with it; but having both available.

Maybe it’s a pick up item like camo or the bubble shield from Halo 3. Whatever 343 is planning for matchmaking I’m sure it’s going to be fun. They’ve hired halo pro players so I’m sure they’re working hard to make multiplayer fair for the casual and hard core players. Here’s hope it comes out good

ADS doesn’t bother me if it is initiated the same way that zoom/scope is initiated now, i.e. by clicking in on the joystick. Using up a key button like the trigger is a giant waste for ADS mechanics.

If it’s just the click in with the ADS visual, then… what does it matter? It matters not to me.

If thats true and just cosmetic and doesnt affect how the guns work I dont see how thats an issue, same with it be toggleable. Also link to thins?

Ugh…here comes my bi-annual post due to absolute frustration (my head is going to explode from anger). Why does Halo need those things? Why does Halo have to add totally new mechanics?
What frustrates me the most is that games like Quake Live, Counter Strike, etc. Evolve naturally. They dont drastically change the gameplay!!! Do their communities beg for sprint and ADS??? This community does for some damn reason. Think back to Perfect Dark: added bots, totally new weapon innovations, secondary functions, etc. The game still revolved around strafing at high speed and shooting!!! Surprise!!! (still prefer the simpler GE btw)
And that crap about “vets stuck in the mud” is such bull$&%@. If they made a $%&#Ing sequel to Goldeneye 64, no one would want iron sights, sprint, and jumping added to it…Go play Crysis, CoD, Destiny, Battlefield, or the other dozen sprinting, vaulting, ADS shooters. Stop trying to change Halo. We belong in the arena shooter class, and its an awesome group of shooters. So go away for #$%&'s sake…
