Campaign: I love it, every single second of it. My only criticism, 8 levels? 3 or 4 more would have been better. But I love the tactical interaction of the Prometheans, even if it doesn’t take long to know what to prioritise to shoot at. I never liked the flood and think trading them for the Prometheans is a bargain. But with Spartan ops, the single-player campaign is extended in a way that to me feels infinity better than Firefight. Again a bargain.
Spartan Ops; I only have the first chapter obviously, but it feel like maybe 20% of the actual campaign. I was very pleasantly surprised how involved it was. With radio messages telling you what to do next. I expected it to just be text-objectives. The audio-instructions over the com give the whole thing a sense of realism. Like you are playing campaign, or on a real side operation. Parallel to the main story. I love what I’ve seen so far. It’s exactly what I always asked for and imagined.
Wargames: I was mainly a straight up Slayer fan, and Halo 4 doesn’t disappoint. I’m not a great player. But I’m helpful, Halo 4 gives not-great players far more ways to help than ever before. For example using your ordinance drop when you are near the best player, shooting it so they notice and walking off. The assists seem more important now too. If you are a great player scoffing at my comments so far. The nest time you see a keen but not very good player, try and turn them into your human-auto-turret. They are not as useless as in previous games. Overall, its certainly different. and so it should be, if you love Halo 3 go and play it, if you love Reach go play that too. It was important to come up with something new. And they did that in style, while still feeling like Halo. Impressive!
Overall I’ll give halo 4
