My return to Halo 5 has not been pleasant.

I uninstalled Halo 5: Guardians from my hard drive months ago, right after Anvil’s Legacy dropped. With Monitor’s Bounty, I started to hope that 343i would finally start listening to us, given the numerous problems with matchmaking, Warzone, and Warzone Firefight that they finally addressed after so long.

But there are still a few glaring issues, some of which have been present since launch.

First, motion tracker range. It’s still too short at 18m, making it all but useless in Arena. It needs to be brought up to 25m across the board, at least in Social playlists.

Second, Free-For-All. It’s still every bit as frustrating as it’s ever been… due in part to the short motion tracker range. There also needs to be a Social FFA playlist.

Third, Warzone Firefight. Yes, it still has problems; respawn penalties still need to be removed. Even in the new Heroic Firefight it can cause frustration… and that’s pretty much all it’s ever done. Increased respawn timers do not add anything to the game, they do not make it more challenging, they only create frustration. GET RID OF THEM.

Also, Heroic WZFF matches are too short, IMO. Maybe increase it to 8-10 Rounds instead of just five? More infantry battles would be nice as well; I don’t like that you’re practically required to use vehicles for more than half the game. I want to be able to play with my Halo 2 Battle Rifle more.

Fourth… there are too many new items flooding the REQ pool. All the new weapon skins, the new Morph sights for loadout weapons, which are an extremely pointless addition. For the next update, they really need to put Weapon Skins, Stances, and Assassinations in their own separate REQ packs. Much like emblems, they don’t make any real difference to customization; Assassinations are infrequent due to the presence of Spartan Charge and the chaotic nature of this game, Stances are only visible to other players in the post-game carnage report, and Weapon Skins… well, some of us don’t want or need them. I for one never asked to have my Assault Rifle decorated with pictures of cats… even though I am a cat person.

Five, this game still takes up way too much hard drive space. It’s up to 100 gigs now, and I had to uninstall six other games to make room for it. If 343i could compress it down to at least 50 gigs with the next update, that would be great.

Six… where the hell are our black techsuits!?! Seriously, 343i; we’ve been asking for this since Halo 4. I don’t why you didn’t make this a thing at the game’s launch.

I’m not about to quit Halo 5 again… yet. I plan to stick around to help my Spartan Company get the Achilles helmet and grind enough REQ points to get the 2017 classic helmets. But I really hope 343i addresses these problems by then.

motion tracker is perfectly fine and it would be even worse if they made it larger range just removing would be a better option. I agree with everything else though.

I was going to make a post about the req pool. Even tho I have everything unlock it seems that this update brought too many unnecessary things, like the promethean scopes. There are dozens of scopes to choose from an just like hybrid scope, it only provides a fancy look, therefore I think we don’t need more loadout variants, seems to me there’s a lot to choose from.

Definitely agree about the radar and need for REQ packs that focus on specific items. I think there should be a REQ pack that only focuses on customization items…

I hear what your saying on some issues OP, but things like the motion tracker would change the game a lot! I think it should be upped too, and removed from certain game modes, but I doubt that’ll happen in Halo 5 now. Halo 5 is what it is. Hopefully Halo 6 will address some of those issues for you and others.

I like when people say “why haven’t you fixed…” or the like in their post. It reminds me of how self centered some people can be to think that just because a concern was posted that it will DEFINITELY be addressed. I’ll be the first to admit that I have no clue what it takes to program a game. With that said we can’t assume they will jump on every concern we have or that the concern is really that damn easy to fix. Not to mention the cost to “fix” said concern. Bottom line is that it comes down to… well… the bottom line. If it isn’t cost effective to fix something do you really think they are going to fix it? Sure they should take fan concerns into consideration and address the necessary. That’s just good business practice. Much of what is being requested is people just being picky. Radar, removal of sprint, removal of Spartan charge (guilty of this one myself). Things that have no lasting impact. Yes, there are people complaining about them but they’ve stuck with it this long. Must not be hurting their play that much, right?

At this point you are better off waiting until the next installment. I don’t see much of what you are asking for to be changed in H5 nor should it be.

Are you kidding me? It’s completely useless in Arena. And it’s been set at 25m since Halo 2; reducing the range made absolutely no sense considering new additions like Spartan Charge. It’s especially bad in FFA where you have no teammates to watch your back.

I’m with this guy. The current motion tracker is basically worthless. Either bump it back up, or just remove it from the game. As it stands now, Spartan charge has basically the same range as the motion tracker.
It is possible to be Spartan charged out of existence without ever seeing a blip on your motion tracker.
The thing about increasing the range back to 25m is that it effects us all equally. I’ve heard the argument that pro players are better able to utilize the tracker… But let’s just be honest, if you think the main reason the pro player is slaughtering you is due to the motion tracker , you aren’t paying attention.

The way I see it, they released the hybrid scope, they had to release the Promethean scope. Only fair. Other than that, it’s not a super bad problem. I like having many options.

This is one nitpicky post, I was expecting something a bit more serious here. Some urgent issues, bugs, glitches…but no. You are complaining about…preferences here. Honestly none of these things will be changed, they are not major issues such as reticle lag, theatre and other bugs. You just have to wait till the next game

Seriously? Why do we have to wait for another game for them to buff motion tracker range? Or remove respawn penalties in Warzone Firefight? The WZFF beta didn’t have respawn penalties, it can’t be that hard to turn them off.

Also, I’m not the only person who has complained about these problems, so these are far from being solely my personal preferences. No one likes the respawn penalties in Warzone Firefight, and the motion tracker being useless is something that numerous people have complained about since launch.

I second this.

I’m having a hard time adjusting as well Spartan!

There’s nothing nitpicky about the nerfed motion tracker range or long respawns in Warzone Firefight.

Never stated that they were only your opinions. These are after all preferences, something you either like or not. they aren’t game breaking like the ghost melee, or heavy reticle. You and other people may mind the long respawn time but many others either don’t care or like it. You may dislike the radar range but many others, including me, either don’t care or hate it. That’s why you have to wait till the next game for nit picky things to be addressed

What’s nitpicky about it is that you expect it to be increased in this game.

I mean it isn’t a huge problem. But i can see how it afects new incomers to the game. It just adds more and more stuff therefore, more grind to they have to do.

It worked perfectly fine in the beta. If they set it up to 22m instead of 18 thwould solve most problems.

Ya, I agree with everything.

How is that nitpicky? He, along with many others (including myself) have been complaining about both of those things since their introduction. They are major balancing issues that kill a part of the game for people. It’s not like it’ll be hard to do. Warzone already has 25m motion sensor range. It’s already in the game. They just have to change the settings. Firefight timers might be technically a little bit harder, but it’s not like it’s impossible. The Firefight beta didn’t have them the way they are now.
