My response to August update blog

I’ll provide feedback once the update is applied, this is just a little feedback responding to the blog.

POSITIVES:

  • Spartan Points will be earned beyond lvl100 and will be backdated.

  • We’ll be able to customize the menu backgrounds with the menu backgrounds from the original titles.

  • Improvements to Reach Forge.

  • Server syncing improvement.

  • Gold Moa collectibles being added to other titles.

  • The new armour is cool.

  • Updated post game carnage report and poses/podium.

  • Subtitles.

  • Skulls being added to more titles.

  • Reach mod tools.

  • More medals for H3.

  • UI improvememts.

NEGATIVES:

  • There’s nothing about cut content like the CE variants being added.

  • Nothing about H3 Forge being overhauled. It is time. It needs to be significantly improved, seriously. Please.

Overall, assuming lots of bug fixes are included, it’ll be a really nice update! But it is a bit lackluster considering how much more needs to be done. I am now quite concerned not everything will get done and then MCC support will be dropped.

P.S. I am hoping that Custom Edition maps improvememts will mean not needing to replace existing maps and you guys officially implementing the cream of the crop.

Unlikely. That would be Steam workshop’s purpose which if support does come, it would be after the release of the H4/H2A mod tools.

Edit:
What about Halo 3 Forge would you improve? It’s already overhauled from legacy, but curious what else it could use.

In a perfect world, make H3 Forge drastically improved and on par with Halo Online.

More realistically; increased object limit, custom thumbnails, terrain chunks(rocks, stones, grass, mud, dessert, snow, ice, water, concrete, metal etc), total control over death & movement barriers, all or many objects from H3’s & ODST’s campaigns, as many QoL Forge features/tools as possible, any and all plant life seen in H3 & ODST. etc etc.

Stuff like that. Even if it was just those^ things, that would be a massive improvement. Not doing it would be a tragic squandering disservice to themselves and the fans. Doing it will mean a new golden age of maps for H3 and will add a lot to the CGB.

No mention of split screen coming to pc so yet another update i’ll pass on. i’ve owned the game 3 years on steam and have put barely 20 hours in. meanwhile in the same time i’ve dumped hundreds and hundreds of co-op hours on the old 360 with my kid. Refuse to get a new xbox because my pc does everything the series x can but better. Shame the parity with console doesn’t exist there. They mentioned it in the dev blog ages ago and not a peep since.

Splitscreen ‘needs’ to return.

Id like to see the sandbox pallete added to sandtrap, its really a no brainer with the new physics updates

If Halo Reach got that cut spaceship fighting game mode or at least a space forge canvas that would be pretty dope for the sabres and seraphs

Gravity Hammer Added to Halo 2 Anniversary would make use for more infection modes

And an increased file size from 50 to at least 400 this collections capacity is lower then halo 3s 100 compared to Halo Reach’s 1000

Ive been stressing a file size increase since 2014 0r 15 this is ridiculous

Yeah we need more than 50 maps and 50 modes combined across 4 forge enabled games and 7 total games.

Seriously 343 why update Forge when people barely have any room for maps left? Just increase our map limit.

Btw glad Double Exp weekends will return.

after this infinite debacle i’ve been doing a lot of digging. pretty sure split screen for pc was silently cancelled in january when they updated the faq to state that splitscreen is not a thing available for pc. i’m beyond done with 343 at this point.

This might be more recent news than that: https://www.reddit.com/r/halo/comments/sea21e/despite_the_constant_feedback_it_looks_like/hulql0f?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3

Nah that’s what I’m referring to. A silent cancellation by updating the FAQ.
