Opening up Halo 5 right when I got home the day this game was released, I couldn’t of been more happy. The multiplayer is flawless, the campaign was somewhat smooth, and the graphics were stunning. But after a few hours into gameplay I noticed the lack of an infection/flood gamemode, which simply stunned me. I wouldn’t have minded if they just didn’t make a MP playlist for it, and just had it listed under one of the many CG gamemodes, but it was absent from the game completely. More than half of the great custom gamemodes which I played in both Halo 4 and Reach were under some variation of Infection, and I assumed they would have to add it in soon. But it’s been more than four months, and there’s no been no change about this. Forge has been absolutely spectacular, and people have created groundbreaking and fun maps, but many with no good gamemode to compliment them. But this isn’t just about custom games, because I remember just inviting my friends to a party and piling into a infection or flood search on muliplayer, laying back and having a good laugh. People in infection and flood weren’t at all over competitive, as is the norm with most multiplayer lobbies in Halo 5, but it was very laid back and simply calm. To this day I’m both scratching my head on why they wouldn’t add such a simple gamemode, and hoping every update they will, but they haven’t. And so far, there has not been any indication they’ll do such a thing in the January update. To conclude, I’d like to say that I don’t see any viable reason why infection is not in Halo 5, and I’d like to challenge anyone to please stand up now if you think there is. Thank you for sitting down and reading this pessimistic rant of mine.
