Desync has tripled. Today is the first time it has taken more than three shots to kill a “one shot.” Grenades continue to disappear mid-air. I would say this update has done far more harm than good.
I haven’t noticed it being worse. Not better either.
I don’t believe today’s update included fixes for desync etc. I think that is “in the coming months.”
I keep getting hit with the Theres a Problem with the Dedicated Server every time I find a match, this game got unplayable with the update
My game has gone into full MCC mode, can’t find a game tells me it found one and then says “a problem with the dedicated sever has occured”
Worst bit, when this happens if I force quit the build, every time I try to reopen the game it just stalls on the initial screen adn will not progress past it foring me to hard reset my xbox to fix the issue
I played for a little to test out the new maps and give it a shot yesterday. The various online issues for me were neither greater nor worse, was same as always (some acceptable gameplay and some definitely not acceptable). I wasn’t playing ranked, so due to the more causal nature it wasn’t as frustrating certainly.
I will say having someone take multiple shots (2-4) to their head after having their shield break is definitely nothing new for me. First couple months of the game I thought I had lost my edge and kept going into theater to make sure I wasn’t missing lol. At this point I actually wish it was me, at least I could work on that and have control over it.
I had never felt any desync in the last year, but last night I had a few games that were horrendous. I had crazy jitter spikes (as noted by the in-game fps counter) and I was skipping around like a madman.
I don’t know if what you’re saying about taking more than x shots to kill a one shot but I was definitely feeling like my shots weren’t doing anything. The Commando was supposed to get a buff but it felt weaker to me now, like I’d put 8-10 shots in someone and not kill them.
This is correct. However, one of the many things causing desync is the data being transferred to the Xbox profile. As more content gets added to the game it equals more data being transferred.
I noticed a massive difference playing last night. But it also doesn’t help that half the servers we had at launch are now gone.
Theres a huge difference for me as well. Its basically unplayable because of it plus theres no more FFA playlist for me. So i guess ill go back in my hole.
Yeah, last nights experience was very unplayable. The worst I’ve seen to date.
Mine were mostly menu issues. My cosmetics and store and battlepasses weren’t appearing. I could only see the unpurchased season two. Couldn’t get into a game due to menu buttons not responding(?) I wrote it off as just a bad day and will try again when I get home from work today.
Hi IntoValhalla, what’s this about the servers? I wasn’t aware that when the game launched it had twice as many servers in use compared to now. Did they reduce the number slowly over time or was this more recent and faster? Do you know why they did this (was it population related)?
Just curious, as I would think even if popularity is waning and there are all the issues we know about and have experienced, that MS would still want it’s flagship title to have appropriate support. Thanks!
I am not having a good time with it.
My ping is higher than it typically used to be and it fluctuates wildly.
I’ve killed someone and it takes two seconds for it to show on screen. It feels like every time I swing a hammer, the opponent is pushed back but doesn’t die.
My KDAs have been atrocious, and I have to remind myself that I didn’t suddenly become crap literally over night.
I’m getting the exact same experience here.
I’m not even touching the game untill another update.
I am not 100% sure, @GABLE87. I used to be able to ping the servers with my router, and for the west coast, it showed Washington, NorCal, and SoCal. Now it just shows Washington and NorCal.
Even if I play with an entire four-person team of friends all on the west coast, we never get a west coast server. I can not get any server under 80-100 ping. Sometimes I will get a 50-60 ping server, but a few minutes into the game, it will spike to 100-110 and stay there for the rest of the match.
I should note I have 1000/1000 fiber optic, and I get around 850/850 on my PC.
For my self, it’s a lot better on Xbox after the update.
Before the update, it kept connecting me to Servers in eastern Europe at ping times up to 250 ms, and I’m in Alberta Canada. With Halo 5 / MCC, where I can select the server, my ping times are < 40 ms for the Seattle NW USA server.
In the options for HI, I have now set the “Search Region” to “Local” and have not had a game go any higher than 100 ms. Most games have been around 60 - 70 ms pings for QuickPlay or BTB. Some QuickPlay dropped as low as 40 ms. Finding a match and launching it takes < 30 seconds, so It’s not an excessive wait with “Local” on.
I’m pretty rusty (haven’t played in 9+ months), but I managed to pull off a couple of 5 kill streaks with a Sniper mainly head shots.
So it’s better, but I would honestly prefer being able to select the Server I play on. Even if that was slower to find a match.
Yeeaahh, it’s a bit of a mess right now but, they’re gonna’ be on top of this one I think. I mean they just added like… So much.
And that is seriously complex stuff to add without hitches occurring.
Doesn’t excuse not fixing desync a year after launch.
Same experience here. All the sudden can’t kill anyone even when they are one shot since the update.
Now having played a few matches, I find that my previously non-existent (almost) desync issues are… still non-existent. I There’s a few lag spikes here and there, but it really is not that bad. The issues with this update are still just cosmetics disappearing here and there. I don’t know what it is but my system experience has been really good. Very few instances of lasting lag or desync, and it’s fairly easy getting into games. I can’t for the life of me figure out what’s giving me this advantage. I’m running an original Xbox one that’s 8+ years old and struggling to load Minecraft, my WiFi connection is cheap and wireless, so I don’t even know. The fact that peoples’ experiences are so different in this category is discouraging, to say the least.
This would be why you don’t experience desync. Xbox One is one of the largest causes as it’s data transfer capabilities are not even close to Series X|S or PC. It’s also worth noting that “bad” internet is actually somewhat better. As it takes longer for you to send a packet to the server which then the server sends a packet to the enemy client.
I have fiber and I’m directly connected. So I’m at a disadvantage.
My buddy at 343 claims this is a result of the BR nerf and not desync. But I disagree with him, I think it’s 100% desync.
