My personal review of Halo 5's multiplayer

Alright this is strictly speaking from gameplay… But here it goes.

This is the best multiplayer I’ve played since Halo 3. All of the weapons for the most part, feel balanced. The pistol, beastly if used correctly and gives you a chance off spawn against anything that the other team can throw at you. I’m normally the guy that always wants to play BR starts, but I can work with assault rifle starts when the pistol is this good.

Now the biggest thing for me, when I played the beta, was the bullet magnetism and the aim assist. For the most part this has been toned down to acceptable levels. In Halo 4 all you had to do was aim near the enemy and you would be rewarded with a kill. In this game, not so much, I would venture to say that’s why people are complaining about the aiming being hard, bc they are use to Halo 4/2a were the bullet mag was so high they didn’t have to really aim. Now this isn’t the case on all weapons. Some still have too much bullet magnetism, the BR and Sniper are the main issues here. When I pick up the sniper in this game, I suddenly turn into god mode, can hit the most ridiculous no scopes. If I can do it, I know it’s happened against me.

Honestly this is the most competitive Halo since 3. Sure thins like sprint are annoying, and I would love for them to remove it. But they aren’t, it’s something that people must accept, or move on. The balances they’ve done to sprint, I love. More often than not if someone sprints away, they are cleaned up.

Now I do have some issues, that can hopefully be corrected.
First off- for competitive Halo, these maps are awful. There might be 2 maps that we have for the competitive arena style maps, and just like win Halo 4, the maps are pretty bad. The midship remake isn’t what midship used to be, there are no maps like lockout that will become fan favorites. And idk how many maps this game has shipped with, but I’ve played the same map 5 times in a row in the team slayer playlist and that is way too much.

My second problem are the spawns. I’m going to keep this short and sweet, but they are bad too. I’ve been spawned out in the open right in lines of sight numerous times. I’ve been spawned right next to the enemy team being put in a 1v3 or 4 situation. They need work. It could be that I’m not use to the spawn system though. This might get better with more experience.

My last major issue- the radar. It’s seems like to me, the radar only pings when they enemy is right on top of me. It needs a wider range. Also this could be inexperience coming into play, and will get better the more I learn these maps. But I feel like since with the vast majority of these maps the enemy can come at you from every way imaginable, the radar needs to do a better job.

I honestly do feel like this Halo is miles better than Reach and 4. Keep in mind these are just my opinions, but I would love to hear some of yours!

Im impressed with 343, sure there are some things that they messed up with, but I do think they listened to us and gave us what we wanted. Excluding of course the anti sprint.

Would also like to clarify on the radar situation. I’ve had clips where I’m hiding and literally watch people walk by me, and they don’t ping on the motion tracker.

This needs to be fixed ASAP.

For those that love MLG settings, this shouldn’t be a problem.

This is a good review, and I agree with you. Thanks for being objective (There is a lot of salt on the forums so this was refreshing).

Spawns are pretty fubar in SWAT especially. Maybe they should let spawns take an extra 50ms longer and try to search for a spot that isn’t directly in front of the enemy team. Respawning is instantaneous pretty much in SWAT, almost to a disorienting degree. And you can frequently get spawn trapped or simply spawn directly in the midst of the enemy. Not good.

Well in all honesty this is a review from someone who really wasn’t exited for this game.

But it turned out to be a blast. I’m having more fun on this game than I’ve had on a Halo game since 3.

Sure there are some issues. I for one am not a fan of ADS, but I’ve adapted to it pretty well.

All in all, it’s a very very fun Halo game. Just needs a few minor tweaks IMO.

Agree on pretty much all points.

The maps aren’t that bad tbough. Coliseum is great.

Yeah the spawns are definately a little wacky in this game. I primarily play slayer, and I’ve had situations were my entire team spawns on one side of the map, and I spawn in the middle of the enemy team.

I haven’t learned the spawn system yet though, but I do think they are a little bit of a problem.

But let’s be honest, bad spawns happen in all halo games lol.

Idk. I’ve felt like halo hasn’t had a great selection of maps since Halo 2. IMO those maps were great, only like 3 maps I really hated playing on.

I think the primary reason is there isn’t a OMG I want to play that map 24/7 in this game.

Once again my opinion. Coliseum plays great when you have map control lol.

Funny that you note the radar range being too small since in the beta the radar range covered 20-30% of the map area, your radar alone with your team if placed right can see everyone on the map constantly without needing you to look for them.

Well, with a game win sprint in it, I feel like the radar range needs to accommodate for that.

People shouldn’t be able to sprint right up behind someone, and start shooting without knowing where they are at.

If they never change it to a wider range, that’s fine. Like you said teamwork can overcome it. Plus map knowledge, which I admit I lack right now.

My big issue with it, is that I’ve had multiple times where the radar doesn’t ping people who are walking.

im fine with the radar not pinging people that are crouch walking, because that has always been In Halo. But I’ve got numerous clips of me hiding, and someone is walking by and the radar doesn’t ping them.

It seems to only work if they are sprinting or shooting, which just seems odd to me.
