My personal Halo 5 suggestions

The odds of anyone from 343 actually looking at this are probably slim to none, but I figure it’s worth a shot.

In my personal opinion, Halo has been on a massive downfall since the release of Reach in 2010. Bungie made some amazing games in Halos 1/2/3, but their last entry to the series was the complete opposite of what they had previously been putting out.

Armor Abilities, Loadouts, perks (if you call them that), Tactical and supports packages need to GO and never come back. I’m sorry, but I hate all of this more than you could imagine. Halo was a perfectly fine game without sprint, dexterity, armor lock, jetpacks and ordinances. Equipment (bubble shields, etc.) were fine because you could turn it off. It honestly feels like Call of Duty and I know many, many people share this same opinion with me. I understand new things needed to be implemented into the game, but playing Halo with all this extra crap is a very big turn off to long time players. Halo needs to go back to what made it an awesome shooter, and the developers should really stop over-thinking about new things to be added in.

Recoil when getting hit, particularly with the sniper, is horrible. In previous games, you actually had a chance to kill the other player, but it’s next to impossible in Halo 4.

Maps: more small to mid-sized symmetrical or asymmetrical maps would be much appreciated on launch. Halo 3 had this on point with Guardian, The Pit, Construct, Narrows. Maps built like that make the game a hell of a lot more enjoyable. Remakes are always welcomed haha.

Halo 5 needs a multiplayer beta of some sort. I literally could care less if I need to buy crackdown again just for 3 weeks of a Halo beta. I think a beta would give the development team more of an idea of what the community likes and dislikes, instead of playing the guess and we’ll find out at launch game.

I’m sincerely not trying to hate on 343. They took over one of the most popular and successful video game franchises ever, and were instantly thrown into the spotlight. Of course there’s going to be some bumps and bruises along the way, but so far, I think they’re doing a good job. It would be cool to get a response from someone, but I’m not holding my breath. Let me know what all you guys think about my suggestions.

I agree with everything posted above. Very well put OP.

Thanks man, I hope a lot of people share the same opinion as us. It’s really a struggle to play a handful of games without getting pissed with these settings.

I am sorry to tell you that that will never happen. We might get some sort of Ranked playlists set (which would be more like classic Halo MP) alongside the other stuff, though, if 343i are truly listening.

EDIT: To be clear, I was talking about your Loadout suggestion.
I don’t see a Beta happening either. There is not much time to release one in a two-year development cycle. They’ll barely have enough time to finish the game as is. (though I trust it will be a more complete game than Halo 4, 343i is now a full studio and they are experienced as a team).

We can hope that 343 will put Halo back to the game people loved. Not this Codified Halo. But yes I agree with the OP

Not sure how I forgot a 1-50 ranking system? This stupid CoD credit/XP thing is 1/2 of the reason it’s hard to play this game.

I’d rather try and carry my team to a win because I might be able to rank up, rather than having the mindset of, “eff it, even if we lose i’m looking at 3k credits.”

Hypothetically, let’s say this is H3, Team Slayer, and my team is down 46-40. I’d be doing everything possible to try and get us a win. Now, same scenario in Halo 4, and the excitement and sense of urgency factors are non-existent, because basically every player “wins” (every player gets credits no matter how bad they stink up the joint) because the win/loss outcome is a non-factor.

The things I would do to go to 343 for just one day to have my voice heard…

I hope it playes like Halo 4, but with game types like Reach, Head Hunter, Invasion, ect. Hopefully we could use Chief’s armor too.

You wouldn’t be able to measure my disappointment if H5 played like H4. They need to go back to what worked.

Vanilla Halo = perfect.

Agreed completely, the “classic” Halo formula never showed any signs of losing popularity yet they decided to ditch it for this gimmicky style of Halo which honestly is just a mess and hasn’t added anything innovative to the series gameplay wise.

It’s kind of frustrating to think about how Halo could still be that classic game, but instead they opted for gimmicks. Vanilla Halo is literally perfect.

bsangel was nice enough to reply back and forth with me on twitter earlier today, and she said that the devs read the forums quite regularly for feedback, suggestions, etc. I’m gonna try my best to keep this thread flowing with ideas.

Hopefully we get real Halo back lol.

I enjoyed Halo 3 the most out of the entire franchise. The gameplay worked well and flowed very smoothly. However, I feel like it will be difficult to make the transition back to a Halo 3 style. Armor Abilities are not very appealing to me but I believe something like it is necessary. It adds another dynamic to gameplay, much like equipment in Halo 3. I believe something that is at the players disposal not as frequently as Armor Abilities but more frequent then equipment to be successful.

My main wish for Halo 5 is a strong emphasis on Custom Games. Custom Games support a community and a community is what keeps a games population alive. An implication of Custom Games into the online search would further help gamers interact and play enjoyable games as a group.

I’m fine with credits, but not to rank up. Just to buy armor and stuff.

Good lord please have this games customization at least on par with Reach.
