My opinions on Halo 5 so far, and what are yours?

I’m going to start off by saying Yes, the story and the writing for the campaign was pretty terrible, and the amount of content does feel pretty lacking…
But a lot of us are still playing Halo 5 and enjoying it, and MOST of us are playing Halo 5 longer after launch than we did Halo 4.
I understand a ton of people are upset that FORGE mode wasn’t in the game at launch, but you should appreciate that 343 brought in talented and popular Forgers
into the offices to give feedback on FORGE, and to delay it to make it to make it better for us.
There are 1700+ different items you can place down, that’s crazy!
Not to mention we get free content every month (although it should’ve been in the game at launch) but it’s cool to get new helmets, armor, visors, weapon variants, etc. monthly.
Sadly most of the new stuff in updates are “Legendary” items, so the people who pay the most money for REQ packs (like Greenskull) get the items much faster than people who don’t want to, or can’t afford to spend $1,000 on the game.
Even though the REQ system is a beyond disgusting way to earn armor (HALO: Reach did it perfectly), the money goes towards the Tournaments, and the championship next year, that’s a great thing to do with the money.
So what do you think about Halo 5 so far, and how do you think it could change based on our feedback in the future?

I think that 343 did an amazing job with making halo 5. My only complaint is the glaring lack of content. But that will soon be remedied. I believe that if this game had launched with the same amount of content that halo reach did, I would argue it to be the best halo game ever.

I agree with you, Halo 5 is by far the smoothest feeling Halo game.

Honestly, I liked the story a lot! I’d say that the only thing I didn’t like is the new M820 “Scorpion” (Looks nothing like the iconic Scorpion.) & the REQ system is annoying…

Solid disappointment. Story? Let’s take a character well-loved by the community and turn her “EVIL!” and then talk–Yoink- to people who do not like or understand her change to “EVIL!” by calling them young fans who don’t get subtly or nuance (Frankie did this). Hey, see Blue Team in the game, but don’t expect them to have their personalities intact or to appear very much, just promote them enough to lure fans to the game and give them the bare minimum of those characters. Let’s also create a new antagonist like the Warden who could be terrifying since he can never truly be beaten with one mind that can inhabit a seemingly limitless amount of bodies, but essentially just turn him into a Cortana fanboy for “reasons” that are vaguely explained. Throw in a pointless “AI revolution” plot that has happened millions of times with 343 not providing any kind of original take on it and you’ve got a big mess. Osiris as a team were cool, though.

Multiplayer? Just not enough for me to come back to and REQs are just microtransactions meant to bleed players wallets for as much cash as 343 can take or bleed them or their time if they want to randomly unlock armor through REQ packs.

And MC is suddenly “not emotionally equipped” to deal with Cortana. He was strong enough to risk himself and Cortana over and over to save humanity because he’s a trained soldier from his youth up. Now he’s so heartbroken about his “dead” AI he’s gonna go rogue and endanger fellow Spartans he’s known since childhood? Embarrassingly bad writing.

Basically my opinion of the story and REQ system.

At least the gameplay is great, the multiplayer is more traditionally Halo in comparison to Halo 4, and there’s some fun open-spaced levels in the campaign.

Overall, I think Halo 5 was really well done. I actually loved the campaign and I don’t feel like multiplayer is lacking much content. I’ve been content with Halo 5 since day one and I am super excited for all that 343 is bringing in!
