Personally, I think Halo 5 is pretty decent. I hate a lot of things about it but I am confident they will have matchmaking playlists that strip all the terrible ideas they added to this game. Here are my issues with Halo 5:
- Sprint - This ability is not what halo revolved around during its peak nor should it ever revolve around sprint. It is a terrible addition that only COD fans enjoy. It takes away from the decision making and the melee fighting skills.- Magnetic Bullets - Holy -Yoink- why even bother adding this. With your annoying Killcam, I often get to watch kids who don’t even aim well kill me.- Killcam - You’re just asking for it… You couldn’t add enough features that are in COD that weren’t previously in halo. Wtf.Without these 3 things, you would still be making a game that should be called Halo. Right now, this game resembles a Halo version of COD way too much.
Props for bringing back old Halo games back btw. Only, I can’t help feeling like that’s your way of saying get used to it, we’re keeping sprint and every other ability we added since Reach because we think that’s how the game should evolve… even though 95% of the people on the forum are complaining about these additions.
I feel the only reason they are okay with destroying what Halo was… is because they sold enough copies of Halo 4.
I also think that 343 never checks these forums and all the feedback we have been leaving are just helpless posts.
I’m a bit scared that by the time this game releases I will actually like it less than halo 4…its like they replaced the gimmicky cod stuff with other more annoying gimmicky cod stuff

I feel the only difference they did with halo 5 was try to nerf the additions people hate. Like nerfing sprint so your shields don’t recharge while using it, trying to make both parties happy.
I feel like the game still has decent potential. But its going to require some big changes and lots of preferences added, like turning off kill cam permanently.
I also just remembered how much I didn’t like the halo 3 beta. I still hate all 3 maps that were in that beta. But once the game released, it was a hundred times better with the additions of Pit, Guardian, Narrows, etc.
Sprint isn’t going away anytime soon. I am well aware of the problems that having sprint brings to the table but it is something we are going to have to get used to. I personally think that 343 did an excellent job of balancing it this time around. It isn’t completely a get out of jail free card like it was in the past.
That being said, we need to keep asking that we can turn these features off for custom games. It’s not the best solution, but it would be something at least.
Kill Cams are complete crap! I hate them with an absolute passion. I want this to also be able to be turned off in our own custom settings, like crouch, or sensitivity are.
Don’t trust what the Kill Cams show anyways, any bit of latency will have it showing like you are not being hit at all.
kill cams are laggy bro. You are not seeing whats actually going on. Bullet magnetism only works inside the reticle. Aim Assist=auto aim + bullet magnetism. They go hand and hand. Its been in every Halo, Halo 2 possibly had the highest off them all.

I’m actually going to have to disagree. Never in my life have I killed someone in Halo 2 by not shooting them in the head with BR. In Halo 5 I killed someone who was standing still by aiming off to the side of their head.

and that is a really stupid way to address the problem sprint creates, you can’t implement something into a game that changes sooooo many things and then punish the player for using it, it’s ridiculous

This!
The kill cams are really… odd at the moment, completely off and makes it seem like one br shot to the chest killed you.

Well, I guess in their defense, they are trying to make the “not-for-sprint” parties happy. They think nerfing it will make it acceptable lol.
Sprint doesn’t belong in halo due to the cat and mouse game play it creates. Sure people ducked behind cover long before sprint got added but the attacker would always know their target was hiding still around that courner or rock and flush them out with well placed grenades.
Sprint (the way 343i believes how it should be implemented) has no benefits to the game play. You play any old halo map and they play faster then halo 5.
Movement as in speed may only be achievable in halo
- everyone moves at speed A but reverts to speed B when shooting or getting shot.- sprint works as a small boost to your base speed no more then 10%the reason halo is fun is because of the maps and I’m sure those two options would work really well with any old halo map. if 343i cannot use their desired new abilities on old style halo maps then they are not implementing them correctly causing damage to the flow of the game.
Maps for the beta have no unique advantage points, poor art design and for the size of the maps due to sprint a lack of quality weapons. This will be the first halo game I’ll leave on the store shelf. 343i may want to futurise halo but lack the logical aprouch to do so. Halo used to be unique in many ways but now it is a meaningless cash cow as long as halo 5 sells well 343i will never scrap the crap. So the only thing people who dislike halos direction is to not buy the game. If halo 5 flops more then halo 4 343i may finally get the message and pull their enormous heads out of their…

Amen.
I 100% agree with your post. Although I would prefer no speed boost what so ever. Keep it original. I wish they would actually read these threads.
I’m glad everyone in this discussion agrees. It’s pretty damn serious when you can make complaint threads about major mechanics of the game and have everyone agree.
I too may leave this one on the shelf, I will be watching streams after it launches to see if I’m interested at all but at this rate, probably not.

Your so right about the “gimmicky” stuff of this game…there’s so much lighting and colorful textures that the gameplay is without any style whatsoever…

Not true. I’ve been on board since CE and I think sprint is probably the best thing to happen to Halo.

Agreed (at least one of the best things) Heck it was going to be in halo 2 Originally lol. Even back in the days of halo 2 and 3 ive always thought hey for being a super soldier i sure do move slow nothing compounds this more then then playing them now.

Bingo.
I genuinely believe the nerf has only made things worse, and that it should just be removed already. You haven’t solved the problems with sprint in Halo 5, you’ve only created new problems. No one has the balls to move anymore.

You better check again because Halo 2 is notorious for its high aim assist. The way bullet magnetism works in Halo is the very tip of the reticle can be over an enemy and bullets can still hit. Halo 5 is no different so I dont understand why people are upset now.
Agree and disagree on some points I do like the gameplay from Halo 5 I don’t mind sprint and no I am not a fan of COD.
