My only problem with being free multiplayer and on PC, IS THE CHEATERS… how 343 will adress this? Of course will be a problem, even in a games like fall guys, baby games there was CHEATERS, imagine in halo… like cs,and all other FPS games on PC.

The issue will exist to a degree regardless of what system they put it, but the question is at what success rate can they detect them and ban them. I believe they will have to create a new XBL account if they get banned. This may lead to a potential IP ban if they have the infrastructure. If you are concerned you can probably switch it to Xbox only.

What would an IP ban accomplish? I dont know the situation in the US but in EU you usually get dynamic IPs unless you pay for a static one.

A temporary solution which would slow down the cheaters. Some cheaters are not that knowledgeable with tech and probably would get scared.
I’m shutting crossplay off as soon as I launch the game. Don’t ever want to have to deal with it.

I’m not sure you can. From what I’ve seen you can choose matching by input device and not system. I’m not 100% sure though, perhaps another member has more info.
343i Have mentioned in the PC Inside Infinite that they have anti cheat built into the SlipSpace game engine. I believe it detects player behaviour in game that is suspicious and unusual to detect if a player is cheating or not.
With virtually any PC game there will be people hacking or cheating at some point but it’s rarely a systemic issue that plagues a game.
Within the whole time MCC has had cross play I’ve seen 2 people who are blatantly cheating. With new tech in the engine I’m sure cheating will be a harder task than usual.
I’ve mentioned this in a previous thread, 343i are owned by Xbox who is owned by Microsoft - one of, if not the largest tech company on the planet. If they needed help with their anti cheat software I’m sure they have the connections and resources to invest in that technology.
If this becomes a problem I’ll play with xbox players only
my problem is can i play offline with ai bots…
I trust 343 and Microsoft with this. Sea of Thieves, Halo TMCC and Gears 5 have crossplay with PC and there are no cheating problems. I don’t know why it is but Microsoft seems pretty good at managing cheating in their online games - especially compared to EA or Activision.
I’m worried about that too. Especially considering this is 343i first new Halo on PC. What’s the cheater issue look like on MCC?
Easy Anti Cheat (EAC) is actually one of the best anti cheats they can have on PC (What is currently in use for mcc). so any of the hacking claims you have, might just mean you get paired up with people way better than you. I know their “behind the scenes” ELO system is crap, so they should fix that if anything. Stop ranking couch playing controller players up against top 200 pc players. Ive seen it happen more than a few times on PC. (Talking about MCC)

Theres a cheating issue with people floating n zooming around the map in Halo 3 thats cropped up within the past month or 2.
i expect Infinite to have a stronger anti chat than MCC. And with it being free to play, the population will be large enough to disable pc matchmaking without it effecting time to get into a match.
Eh, Cheating is just as bad on paid games. Don’t get it twisted.
Fortnite is free and really didn’t have a HUGE cheating problem(compared to it’s numbers ). Ofc there will be cheaters.
And if mcc is any metric it will be super few and far between. almost 1k hours since it’s dropped on pc and i’ve ran into a cheater once.
Also console players have access to “CronusMax” which is a scripting device etc etc.

This guy was speedhacking for at least a week before anything was done about it, and I can say from experience that Easy Anti Cheat is inconsistent. I have 2 abnormal .dll files in my system32 folder that were part of an attempt to fix compatibility issues with other game, and Easy Anti Cheat inconsistently flags as suspicious files and crashes the game on start up. More often then not, when I boot up the game the first time it will flag at least one of them as a suspicious file and crash the game right after the 343 opening video, and then occasionally it will flag the other after I attempt to boot the game again, then very rarely it will flag either of the files during the third bootup.
They have explained their anti-cheat system a little bit and even though there wasn’t much, it’s already better than CoD Warzone’s anti cheat so I’m happy!
Yeah I’ll be turning off crossplay if there’s a mass amount of cheaters.
Personally I’m more concerned with smurfs. I think Microsoft will be able to keep the cheaters in check but there is nothing to stop really good players from picking on the n00bs by creating new accounts every week

I hope this is an option, they haven’t confirmed yet either way.

Very good question. With it being a F2P game, I’m not sure they will let you do that.
Maybe its something that can be locked behind a campaign purchase? Like, you want offline play? You gotta buy the full game.
