I feel like the Ar is to powerful. It would be great if 343 tones it done considering with the smart scope it make it more accurate.
Does anyone feel like this?
BR/DMR still beats it hands down at range. The AR should be powerful up to mid range or it might as well just not be in the game like previous Halos.
The problem is that the AR is too powerful at too large of a range thanks to ADS and the accuracy bonus it receives through ADS
I agree with OP AR needs a nerf to effective range or to its damage one or the other not both
No. It needed this. It was utterly pointless in every Halo game. Even CE. And like Fredex said, you can still beat it with the DMR or BR at range, but the AR is now a viable useful weapon like it should have been.
People who are good with automatics will be able to put up more of a fight and precision weapon users will just have to get more precise.
I’m a BR guy myself, so this isn’t biased; it’s just what I think is fair. I really like the balancing.

If they remove smart scope all together that could help it some.
If it makesya feel any better BR and DMRs are still annoyingly strong just like in the originals. All is right with the world in this case.

That’s just not my experience going up against it. Unless I’m playing against some pretty bad shots.
Here’s what I’ve noticed:
- You can actually compete using the AR for once.
- You can still defeat it with a BR, just not as easily.
= - More balanced.
^that’s what I think. I don’t want Halo 5 to be a one-gun game like all other Halos were. I don’t want to see a teammate using an AR and me think “why are you using that? You’re gonna cost us the game”.
