Usually in forums there are so many endless rules you’re probably breaking at least one in some way or another just by making a post (which is why I hate forums and usually don’t make posts), but I’m desperate to help out 343i as much as I can with my own personal game issues/bugs that I have personally experienced. Although most of them have been shared experiences among millions of people (which they have become explicitly aware of by now), I have experienced certain issues I haven’t seen addressed yet. Below is a complete list of each and every major (and minor) issue/bug I have experienced. Feel free to second any individual issue you, too, have experienced.
- Obviously, very long wait times in matchmaking, and oftentimes uneven and/or split party teams (in nearly every playlist, open NAT type, and searching alone OR with a friend). In the two successful games my friend and I have found together, we were on opposite teams. The last match I played there was a guy and his guest (signified by a duplicate gamertag with a “(1)” next to the name) were even on opposite teams, which means they were on the same console and still got split up.
- Oh and am I the only one who has a problem with the fact matchmaking has 10 player slots in the 4v4 playlists when there are only supposed to be 8? Halo has FOREVER been a 4v4 game, and never a 5v5 game. That’s just ridiculous. The descriptions of each playlist even say “4v4”, and the max party size is even just 4 people…so why is there a possibility for 10 people in one match? This isn’t Titanfall (or is Titanfall 12 people? I can’t remember, it’s been so long since I’ve played it.)
- My game either freezes indefinitely or straight up crashes to the dashboard after nearly every match. So not only do I wait 10 or 15 mins for a match, but then I get to restart the whole game between every match as well.
- Oh and does anyone else have a problem with the strange buzzer sound that happens before the start of each match? It’s like the sound it makes when you’re locked into a game and press the B button to try and back out…or when you try to select something that’s unselectable. It like…buzzes. And it happens without fail every time on the map loading screen prior to each match. It’s so minor I wouldn’t mention it, but it’s gotten very annoying.
- On one occasion the game froze at 0:00 seconds prior to the game start…after everyone voted, and it tied up between two map/variant options (2 votes for each), and then froze for like 5 mins before I finally just restarted the whole game.
- Oh and of course this isn’t a bug/issue necessarily, but it means a lot to me (and many more people out there) that we get a dedicated Halo: CE playlist (or 2+ if you really love us, 343) and a ranking system as soon as possible. That was my biggest reason for excitement. And it’s not there yet.

And just a personal concluding rant because I absolutely have to get this out of my system: These are the people who INVENTED console gaming online. They PIONEERED matchmaking. No one had ever heard of that term before (in the gaming world, at least). THEY INVENTED this crap. It’s not their first rodeo. Then three more Halo titles were released with ZERO matchmaking problems ever. Literally none. And now it’s an absolute disaster. They act like this is the first time and they have no clue what they’re doing. Even in the wording of each update, “That should help. This should make things a little better. We’re still monitoring.” It’s like they’ve never done it before and they’re just trying crap out. I would like to hear a more firm, “We’ve figured out the problem. We’ve fixed it. Everything’s 100 percent now.” Otherwise another commenter’s post I read earlier is right, it’s gonna be months before this is totally ready for playability. And can I just get like a text alert when it is? I’m tired of cutting out time from my family, planning around this, thinking, “Oh that was 8 hours ago. It should be working now,” and “Oh that was yesterday. It should work now,” with no avail, just wasted free time. At this rate I’d just like to shelve it for a while till it’s ready to go. Can we just get a mass text alert when the game works? Or even just a timetable of when it will be working? (Obviously I’m being sarcastic. And obviously I know you’re working on it, 343; much love. But it is incredibly frustrating simply because it doesn’t make any sense. But hey, I’m done with my rant now.)
