My method of doing challenges: ignore them unless I want the weekly

Seriously. Almost a month in and not worrying about challenges and playing the modes I love (LSS) until I want a weekly. And the recent weeklies aren’t very appealing to me personally. When I see a weekly I like I’ll grind challenges, and when I don’t like the weekly I won’t bother. In a six month season that’s all I have to do really, hopefully by the first three month season the challenge system will be changed enough so that I can just play and win the modes I love. If not, whatever, challenges aren’t that bad IMO.

Challenges are also tied to levelling up the battle pass. They give significantly more points than just playing a match. Also for many there’s a fomo factor even if they don’t like the weekly reward.

That’s the way I’ll play after the next week or two. Only 25 levels to go.

I understand that challenges are tied to the battle pass, but in a six month season I’ll complete the battle pass anyway. And I don’t get FOMO over videogames, especially when it’s something you wouldn’t wear if it wasn’t “Rare” or “Hard to get”

Makes sense. Play and have fun with the game types you have fun with.

I enjoy completing challenges, it makes me get a little dopamine feeling when I see those finish. I’ve gotten a surprising amount of Weekly’s without really trying just because of having fun with challenges.

This is so important. Players are burning themselves out playing game modes they don’t like for a weekly reward they really don’t want.

And/or getting upset that their BP isn’t progressing. Which is silly. Mine is already at L40 or something. And I haven’t been trying (no double XP or challenge swaps this season).

Still have five months to go!

And if you do want the weekly reward make sure you are playing the Challenges correctly. Batch them so you are doing as many simultaneously as possible. Especially in game modes you aren’t fond of.

Was this a secret or something?

I’ve barely touched challenges and I’m nearly 2/3rds done with the pass, currently sitting at Level 64…

There’s plenty of time to finish the battle pass…

I pretty much just play what I want. It’s the best way to play this game…

Same here. Stopped grinding the weekly rewards since january. Still bought both battle pass. Completed battle pass 1, battle pass 2 is on level 37.
No need to do the challenges or to play gamemodes that i dont like.

And the bonus of not burning myself out… is that I have over 50 challenge swaps left. So if there is a weekly I decide I really want - I have full control over how I get it.

I would do this too if there was more XP to earn without challenges.

MCC: 1 Point for levelling up, 1 point for challenges. You can choose to skip challenges if you wish.

Infinite: 1 level up per day, and you need multiple challenges to level up once. You want more XP in a week? Grind 20 games for a level up.

This seriously sucks for progression and doesn’t really reward the player for wanting to keep playing.

Yeah, for the most part I don’t pay too much attention to challenges if I don’t care about the ultimate reward, which is most weeks. Now, because of the new season, I still try to get most of the challenges (though I don’t go significantly out of my way to complete annoying ones (play oddball PvP matches, yeah because oddball comes up so often in quickplay) or waste challenge swaps on them) so I can get to 100, but I don’t worry about it that much.

Didn’t a Monitor tell you they’ll take further action if you continue to Spam this

My strategy is double xp the first 5-7 challenges because they are just kill challenges, then ignore the latter where they get tedious and ridiculous. Unless I also want the weekly, then I sweat for it.

Well congratulations to you I guess.

You are significantly less human than 99% of everyone else playing the game because you’re FoMo immune.

But that 99% of every other player that matters, weaponized FoMo represents problematic and predatory design choice on the part of 343i.

FoMo is litearlly the only progression system 343i has going for them.
That and using money to bypass frustration in the form of Pay2Progress challenge rerolls.

See the problem is that weekly items disappear possibly forever. What if I don’t necessarily plan on using the visor/stance/etc immediately, but at some point in the future I might change my mind? If I miss a weekly reward, I will probably never have a chance at it again. I’ve always been a bit of a completionist for unlocking customization and this system just exploits such things to maximize that magical “player retention” number that every psychologist in the gaming industry seems to worship.

Damn, I wish I had your mentality.

I’m part of the customization community. Aka that community 343i completely neglected with Halo Infinite by locking 90% of the armour behind a paywall. I find joy in creating Spartans and seeing what looks cool. So when it comes down to visors being locked or Spartan emblems, it kinda makes me feel like I need to unlock them.

I genuinely hate the system in place, however if I wanted a red visor I could either unlock it in a Ultimate challenge, or buy it from the store.

100% agree with you. I want to unlock all the armour I can since I love customing my Spartans. The FOMO is way too real with this game to the point that I have a week long holiday coming up and I’m praying the reward isn’t something I want.

The fact that the FOMO is causing me to worry about going on holiday just shows how bad it is for some members of the community. Luckily I’ll still have a chance to unlock the weekly (unless we go away on strange dates) However knowing my luck, they’ll have an event on and give out the Mark V helmet, which is the only Helmet I want now.

If dressing up your character in a video game is affecting your vacation plans, you probably need to re-evaluate your priorities. Just saying…

I would agree if the people i was matched with shared the same sentiment. Sure i could ignore it all and play what i want, but theres no guarantee the rest of the people i get dropped with will. The whole challenge system was very badly thought out, and its negatively affecting the entire game, its a thing they should fix sooner rather than later along with desync.
