My long thoughts of the Current update with a nerf I don't agree with

So I saw a nerf change video just now of the current update for infinite. And I really don’t like it and takes away of the feel of being halo. What nerf you gonna ask that I am referring to in Halo infinite? Well it apparently the Energy sword nerf. To where I watch basically if both spartans whether if it against a AI or Player and you have no shields whether if you get hit by close range melee whether if they are holding a weapon or sword/hammer and the ai/player that hits ytou regardless if they have or don’t shields they will still die from you carrying the sword after getting killed by them. Even if they have full shields and can still die by the sword welder after meleeing them to death.

Like why change this? Now I don’t want to grab a sword nor be by a player welding a sword to melee all cause of the details I stated plus watching comparison of pre-patch and live patch by the Youtuber Standardace. It the stupidest nerf ever and I don’t want earn stupid kills that shouldn’t even count that I stated. Heres the video link if you want to see

It takes the fun away cause you all don’t like sword duels apparently and sword parrying. Geez 343 what are you doing to the game? Are you trying to push it to not have that halo feel anymore?

Cause I sure do like using Swords in halo and doing duels and parrying and as well of hoping the person I am sword dueling against swings early so I can strike on the early mistake. But apparently you wanna keep pushing things away from halo still. As I am fan of how the mechanics with the sword dueling and parrying in Halo 3, Halo Reach and halo 4. Don’t remember if halo 2 had that system. And infinite was just fine of how the sword mechanics were before this patch happen.

What I also don’t like is infinite is that the motion tracker/combat sensor sucks it just doesn’t detect the range it is suppost to compare to CE, 2, 3, reach, 4 heck maybe 5.

I don’t even play much of halo 5 due to the fact it just don’t feel like it halo at all. Having ADS on every dang weapon even melee weapons just to get extra range which was stupid tbh. And which I did like the fact that you know cool mechanics being brought in of ADS for most of the guns was cool cause we ask how would ADS work in halo that ain’t precision weapons, and bring in clamber and seat swapping, which save time from jumping out of the warthog when solo. But what was more stupid that made it feel like 5 was just not halo was a ton of reasons maps, especially btb. BTB was ruin in h5 for me Big time as I like playing BTB especially BTB Heavies.

Then theres the features I like that were introduce in Halo 4 which should of stay regardless. Which were the grenade incoming indicator, which infinite needs that badly cause grenades come in pretty quietly at times and don’t do it noise effect at times. As well of in PvP when zoom in the precision weapons scopes you didn’t get kick out of it when getting shot by another player in halo 4. As I hate it in halo 5 and infinite you got kick out of the precision zooms but not The smart link ADS at all. Where Classic halo of CE, 2, 3 and reach in Bungie days you did get kick out of the zoom regardless if it was a Smart link scope or a precision weapon scope if got hit by another player.

I’m ok with this, although logic would say that the sword connect first because it’s a longer reach. But I get why they did this.

It’s always been like this in previous Halos. Heck, in I think Halo 4 you could actually block the sword with a regular melee. The sword is just a melee damage multiplier at the end of the day.

You could block it in Reach with a melee so long as you had shields and timed it right.

They made this change because the sword was encouraging people to just run around the map constantly with thruster or grapple shot and were more or less unstoppable unless you had your own power weapon (such as rockets/sniper) to stop them. The sword is meant to be a close quarters dominator, but there isn’t a weapon that can counter it.

This is how all past halos have functioned. You’ve always been able to melee kill the swordbearer if they are hitting you. Reach of course did have the melee clash so long as you had Shields and you timed it right. And every Halo game has had the swords clash. Swords still clash in Infinite.

Since launch the sword has been a nearly unstoppable Force that just guarantees one team that has it however many kills worth of charge it has. The sword was never meant to be a guaranteed murder machine when paired with equipment like the thruster or grapple shot. In its state pre-patch it was ridiculous and busted. Now post patch it still ridiculous and busted, but at least if someone is able to pop a sword wielder’s Shields they’ll at least have a chance to stop them.

So, I guess this is your thoughts on the sword update, plus a few bonus thoughts not related to the update.

Balancing the sword was a good thing. Meleeing anyone with no shields should kill them, shouldn’t matter what they are holding.
