Dear 343 and other Halo fans,
I want to share with you the story of how I got my limited edition of halo 4, as it isnt… well normal.
As a, if i may call myself, rather big halo fan, I pre ordered the limited edition of halo 4 from a local store ( i live in Rotterdam, The Netherlands). However, when the day of halo 4’s release came i got an email from this store telling me that my order had been cancelled due to “technical” difficulties. I thought this was odd and decided to investigate. I found out that microsoft had made lesser copies of the limited edition than requested, which made me realize, getting my hands on a copy is going to be difficult. Nevertheless I decided that i would not let this bring me down. We are now 2.5 weeks after halo 4’s release and I dont have money (I didnt have money since a couple of days after halo 4’s release, i had to give it for personal reasons) by now im almost desperate to find a limited copy and go down almost every video game store in Rotterdam to ask them if they could set a copy apart untill i got my salary (which is about half a week from now… Every single one of them were sold out either that same morning or a week after the release date.
And then it happened. I went to the outskirts of town on my own (i’m riding my bike everywhere and so i felt pretty darn tired) and i saw a Media Markt, i thought to myself, if they dont have a copy, well then i give up. As i walk into the store i rush into the 360 section and look for the halo 4 stand, and as a gift from the gaming gods, there it was. Possibly the last limited edition copy of halo 4 in Rotterdam. Of course the first thing i do is grab it and tell the clerk to save it for me (as i still was broke) he said “i cant save it only a day, you have 24 hours and then its going back into the sales” by now im freaking out because this was my last chance. So i called up some friends and sure enough one helped me out. The next day i raced to the store and got it, never felt so euphoric. ( well maybe once or twice, but i felt pretty darn happy)
I got home and popped that badboy right in, as the main menu theme started to play i was excited. So ofcourse i start the campaign, and honestly 343, i thank you. I thank you for bringing back the ( at least for me) long lost goosebumps that i first had with halo ce. Seeing cortana say “I need you” just sealed the deal for me. You guys made all the trouble i had to get through worth it in the end. The torch has been passed to a company thats worth it. I thank you for the awesome moment i experienced, you guys are awesome
