Been playing for a while now, around level 33 and have seen a lot of good things about the game. Although I do have my problems with it, many of which have most likely been brought up many times already, Although I feel I have some rather fair ideas to address some of these issues.
ORDINANCE
I think this was a fairly good idea, it keeps one team from getting two powerful by having all the power weapons, and rewards good gameplay. HOWEVER, the way it seems to be set up now, it seems to break a lot of what made Halo great.
As of now, the point system is flawed in that it rewards the player much to quickly, resulting in a cluster of power weapons on the map, along with a lot of less than useful vehicles… What it also denotes its tactics, while before… there where a few power weapons per map, it forced both teams to divide and conquer, otherwise one team would have all of the power weapons. With the ordinance the way it is, you need not worry past the first 30 seconds of the game. What this does is throw divide in conquer out the window, and replace it with safety in numbers… as in everyone clumps together and utterly destroys anything that passes.
Possible solutions
-require more points, so you might get only 1 or 2 per game.
-Only reward points for things such as Non-ordinance kills and assassinations, as well as objective gameplay (don’t want to let killstreaks I MEAN ordinance stack now do we?)
-Possibly Even just have ordinance team based, it all goes into a pot and rewards one player randomly, so there aren’t hordes of power weapons.
VEHICLES
In the current situation, i feel as though all the armor from every vehicle was stripped and replaced with paper, and then the old armor from every vehicle combined was welded onto the mantis. Originally, vehicles were a lot more scary, and much more of a rarity, sure, warthogs flying into the air from a sticky grenade wasn’t realistic, but it was much more fun when the enemy had to do more than spam blue adhesive explosives and instantly destroy what used to be a somewhat formidable opponent, and again the endless power weapons don’t help that either. Another issue is most of used maps tend to be a little condensed… meaning you are forced to get within sticky range, even if your not going in for the splatter. The closest one at the moment that I’ve played in matchmaking is ragnarok… but thats ANOTHER issue altogether
Possible Solutions
-Increase our once formidable friends health, so he can return to being at least somewhat scary
-Look into more vehicle friendly maps
-fix ordinance
MANTIS
I’m sure this has been argued many times already, but something needs to be done about our small little wannabe gundam. The issue with it is its only weakness right now is the plasma pistol, and the spartan laser, you lack these and its GG.
You may remark “you can always mount and grenade like on a tank” and you would be right. But the thing is faster than you when you full on sprint, especially when its bullets seem to slow you down. what you get is a heavily armored arsekicking machine that is very difficult to kill, because ordinance allows the enemy to defend it so much easier, and the spartan laser is not as common as many. As long as the driver doesn’t charge into your spawn where you can all shoot at it from every side, its a near impenetrable defense.
Solutions
Decrease either its
-Shields
-Speed
or
-Firepower
-Give it something with a real gun to face… like a tank i’l most likely bring up later, but don’t want to overload one thread
