My ideal next drop pod update

We have all seen the roadmap and it mentioned quality of life updates (which I am assuming means drop pods will be continuing as they have definitely helped improve the game) so here are some things I would ideally like to see in the next/future drop pods. And bear in mind drop pods dont usually have MAJOR additions but this should be in line with what we have seen in the past.

  1. Further Implementation of Cross Core:
Visors is a great start and I wanna see more of customization opened up for cross core ASAP. Coatings may be the best place to start, maybe some wrist and helmets might be among the easiest options too? Just keep opening it up as much as possible.

  2. More Ranked Playlist Additions:
Adding Ranked Doubles was a great step in the right direction. I think the next step would be Ranked FFA Slayer. Then maybe a ranked attrition playlist? And a weekly/monthly rotating ranked playlist with some less serious/competitive modes in the rotation such as Team Snipers (S7s Only).

  3. Adding modes to Social Team Doubles:
I wanna see some more fun modes added to the social version of doubles in the same way rumble pit is the fun social version of FFA. I wanna see Team Snipers (S7s Only), Ninja Slayer, Rocket Repulsors, Fiesta, etc. Add some more variety to the playlist and help distinguish the social and ranked version of doubles better.

  4. De Sync Improvements:
It has been plaguing the game for way too long and needs to be worked on as much as possible. If the game feels good to play then people will be more willing to stick around to wait for more content to be added. Desync has been ruining that for far too long now.

  5. Matchmaking Improvements:
The Skill Based Matchmaking needs to be majorly turned down in the social playlists. It is far too strong right now and discourages people trying to play with friends. It needs to be FAR looser in the social playlists.

I do think Armor coatings would be the best start to Crosscore since the Hands, Helmets, Knees, and Shoulders are tied to the armor and without the coatings, it would just complicated matters. The Hips, wrists, and chest armor are the only armor pieces that the coating system doesn’t seem to affect, and may be possible that those are next if the coatings themselves need more time. It could go in any direction though.

I think there needs to be some pretty significant custom games improvements. I think those should come before or with forge.

For me, cross coatings and fixing the networking issues that have plagued the game this past month.

Is there any reason why Attrition couldn’t just be added into the current ranked arena rotation?

What makes it any different to other objective games?

This.

People have drifted away from the game for a multitude of reasons. It’s often multi-factorial.

But the one thing that’s going to stop them coming back is desync.

They need to address it and tell us what they are doing about it. The last we heard was that they were adding telemetry into the game at the end of Season 1 to look at it. And then a brief comment in the recent roadmap video about how they are prioritising MP issues.

We need more.

The lower population is leading to a wider ranges of ranks on each team and this is already causing blow outs. If, for whatever reasons, your team doesn’t gel it all falls apart early, and spectacularly (particularly in objective modes).

Making one team stronger from the outset would just amplify this exponentially.

In any case, I expect significant improvements to the Custom Games feature. If that isn’t fixed by November, fanbase have mercy on this game’s soul.

HCS community hates it.

Wasn’t even on the radar. Not until ske7ch tweeted about a spike of reports from players seeing massive packet loss and 4 figure ping. This was last monday.

Well that’s somewhat disappointing. It’s not my favourite by a long shot - but I like how it’s something different.

It’s definitely on their radar.

They are just choosing to down play it for now. Which at this point is being counter productive.

When they rolled out Season 2 they talked about adding in telemetry to help them find out what was going on.

And in the recent road map video Sean specifically talked about it as one of the four pillars they were aiming for. It was only briefly, and they of course didn’t say desync.

But at this stage they might as well be open and honest with the fans that have stuck around.

Down playing the #1 issue with this game is counter productive. I agree.

He talked briefly on stability. You don’t talk briefly on the #1 game issue unless there are 0 solutions being worked on. Especially when handed a script written by executives and lawyers that are trying to save face.

I agree. But it is impossible. Lawyers have very strict, very threatening NDA & other confidentiality documents in place.

The ranked experience is much more curated and sectioned into categories than social. So while its fine to have attrition in the social quick play mix of modes, it would not work in the ranked arena playlist. However, it is a great mode and offers variety.
It sort of acts as Halo’s version of a Search and Destroy type of mode with the limited lives system. Its similar in nature to Breakout in Halo 5.
Therefore I think it would need its own ranked playlist to offer the experience of tactical play using the lives and revive system, and more intense clutch moments.

Yes sir, cross core coatings please.

Would be nice to get a drop pod this month with cross core coatings after the disappointing new roadmap that was revealed. I’m not expecting one until next month though. They seem to be bimonthly “monthly” drop pods so far.
