My Ideal Halo: The Road to Halo 6

This topic of “where should Halo go next” has been around for a while and after giving it much thought, this is what I thought would be neat to see…

Hunt the Truth Season 3

Hunt the Truth Season 3 would start off with the Created taking control of known space and actually delivering on their promises. Piracy has been subdued, various military conflicts are ended, glassed worlds have begun the terraforming process and colonies are fully stocked with food and other supplies necessary to be prosperous. The galaxy under their care actually starts to feel pretty good, and yet rumors begin to spread. Contact with colonies are lost, cities go dark, travel is restricted and certain regions of space are forbidden from being entered by the Created. People begin to ask questions, but all they get are vague answers and a lot of runaround. Strange disappearances eventually frighten enough people that they stop asking, but there will always be those who won’t stop until they can get to the truth…

Halo: Escalation

The mistakes of the previous Escalation would be forgotten and a new Escalation, which actually connects to Halo 6, would begin. The story would start with the the UNSC Infinity and the SoS Shadow of Intent hiding from the Created. The two would decide on a plan of action, which would involve both ships splitting up and searching different areas of unknown space for allies. The UNSC Infinity would take Fireteam Osiris and search for the lost Insurrectionist colony belonging to Lyrenne Castilla and Admiral Preston Cole. The Shadow of Intent would take Blue Team and seek out the Prophets, which they hope will lead them to a still intact Janjur Qom.

While they search for these clues and seek out their respected targets, they would be pursued by special units formed by the Created. Veteran soldiers belonging to various species would be selected by the Created and equipped with custom Forerunner combat skins, given access to Soldiers and Knights and then given command of Starship’s retrofitted with Forerunner tech. Their purpose would be to hunt down and destroy the UNSC and Swords of Sanghelios renegades.

I would love to see Jul 'Mdama return and lead an army for the Created, as I’ve written here, but the person I would like to see return the most is Dasc Gevadim. Dasc and his followers, who survived the Guardian’s rising, would accept Cortana’s offer and lead special unit charged with tracking the Infinity. They would be accompanied by an AI, because they couldn’t be trusted to use this stuff alone, but Gevadim and his people would surprise the AI every time they demonstrate they already know about the Forerunner tech they’ve been given.

As they begin to explore space and search for the Infinity, they would also demonstrate intimate knowledge of the surrounding area. They know which planets have Forerunner tech and which do not, even on those worlds that haven’t been properly scanned and searched by the Created yet. After Jul 'Mdama catches up with the Shadow of Intent and loses her after being out maneuvered, Gevadim will suggest that he pick up the trail and continue the search for Shadow of Intent. At first Cortana would say no, but Gevadim would show them where the Shadow of Intent has been and suggests he knows where they are heading. Cortana would then agree to let them try.

Meanwhile, Fireteam Majestic would take Doctor Halsey and rendezvous with the ONI Prowler Port Stanley. Their mission would be to infiltrate Created space and make their way to the planet Reach. Doctor Halsey believes that her cloned brains could have survived the destruction of Reach because she had them hidden in a mothballed facility that’s located in a region that wasn’t heavily hit by Covenant plasma bombardment. She theorizes that if she can get her hands on one of these brains, she could create a new AI similar to Cortana. After learning from Cortana’s creation and now having access to more advanced technology, her new AI could potentially out-perform and defeat Cortana.

It’s not as easy as it sounds however, since the Created have tight control of the UNSC Inner Colonies and they are actively working in the Epsilon Eridani system. Things are also tense aboard ship as members of Kilo-Five, (mostly Vasily Beloi), still don’t like Halsey. Despite a few intense arguments, Gabriel Thorne will give Halsey his full support and and finally tell Kilo-Five where they can stick their opinions. It would be nice to see Naomi and Halsey have a moment together as well.

I can imagine Naomi having mixed feelings about having Halsey aboard, like she just wants to strangle that woman for what she has done. When she finally meets her in person after all these years however, she doesn’t really know what to think or feel. I would finally put these feelings to rest by having a mother-daughter moment between the two. Halsey would apologize for everything she has done and do the best she can to explain why she did it. I think hearing the words come from Halsey, and not biased people who hate her guts, would make it easier for Naomi to forgive her and realize how important they all were for the survival of the human race, then and now.

The sudden and unexpected return of the Domain would become much more important than even Cortana realizes, when Forerunner constructs around the galaxy begin making contact with it. Enduring Bias will contact the Domain and learn that the Warden Eternal walks again. He will find this news extremely unsettling and while he will keep the reason why to himself, he will make it known that they must seek out the Reclaimers immediately. This will force the Ussans, who chose not to reveal themselves during the civil war, to come out of hiding and begin their own search for the Master Chief.

Eventually the story arc would come to an end when living Forerunner in an unknown location, (most likely Bastion), make contact with the Domain and discover what Enduring Bias has discovered. They then come to the decision that they must end their exile and return to the Galaxy once more. Something is very wrong and if they don’t return immediately, all could be lost…

Halo 6

The game would open with a journal entry narrated by Doctor Halsey. She would explain the major plot points above that happened between Halo 5 and 6. A really epic montage would be shown so that those who didn’t read the comics will at least know what happened and then be brought up to speed for the actual game.

It would actually open a lot like Halo 2, with everyone doing their own thing just before a fleet of ships arrives and the action begins. UNSC, Swords of Sanghelios, Insurrectionist and San’Shyuum fleets would be gathered together and ready for battle as the Created’s special forces arrive and an epic space battle begins. The fleet would be coordinated by Halsey’s new “Anti-Cortana” AI, which would make it a lot like Offensive Bias vs Mendicant Bias from the time of the Flood-Forerunner war.

The first half of the game would basically consist of this epic war between the Alliance and the Created, just like the first Halo game was between the UNSC and Covenant. But like the first Halo game where the Flood would unexpectedly enter the fray, the Forerunner would show up and catch both forces off guard. Unlike the Flood however, the Forerunner are here to end the fighting because they know something much more important is coming. They will explain that the Warden Eternal had been corrupted by the Logic Plague and was dismantled by the Forerunner, but Cortana accidentally woke him once more and now he is manipulating her into doing what the Gravemind wishes.

As this revelation is explained, the Warden will betray Cortana and knock her off her thrown. The Alliance would then capture her and imprison her in AI containment, while the Warden Eternal retreats with a plan to unleash the Flood. Real first contact is finally made with the Forerunner and we get to meet the extremely old IsoDidact who still lives and serves the Forerunner council. Our forces would then regroup at Trevelyan, but we’ll see the Warden Eternal break containment on a Halo Ring and unleash the Flood.

The Legendary ending could take it one step further and have a signal sent off into space which shows the activation of a single star road.

Heard the first part in another thread and liked the idea. Halsey saying in her journal that she had other future uses for the other clones isn’t something to be ignored. With the recent e-book shadow of intent it kind of makes you think san shyum could return but not rhe prophet sub-species. And I’m betting covenant zealots would be quick to call her and the created gods. Not so sure if K5 characters show up doesn’t seem to be a well received trilogy but not to say i wouldn’t like to see it.

I still think the Prophets on Janjur Qom are still out there. It’s likely that the planet’s destruction was made up in order to protect it from the Elites. They were apparently Tier 5 some 3000 years ago, so they could have advanced since then. For all we know they could be on par with the humans or Covenant by now. One of the reasons I think we should go there is that their world has ruins on it that appear to depict ancient humans. I’m curious to know what would happen if they made contact with actual humans and if they’d recognize them. How would they react to that? Can they be our allies? I’d like to think so.

I don’t see zealots would consider Cortana a god. Cortana isn’t a Forerunner AI, she’s human made. Besides that, Mendicant Bias’ betrayal made the Covenant weary of AI and it doesn’t sound like AI showing up and forcing their will on the galaxy would alleviate those fears. Jul 'Mdama teamed up with an actual living Forerunner and had Promethean Knights at his command, but he still didn’t have everyone’s loyalty. If they didn’t follow him then I don’t see a lot of zealots following Cortana either.

I don’t have a problem with Kilo-Five.

Thats what i was saying that it would be the the other san shyuum from the home world who would likely be there but not the ones from high charity. Should’ve worded better.
But I could definitely see that as a possibility and would love to see what they look like compared to the high charity type.

Jul started loosing his followers from the remnant faction because he’d lost control of the promithians. Now if Cortona shows up with promithians, Gaurdians, and who knows what other forerunner tech they would fall in line pretty quickly.

I personally liked K5 just doesn’t seem to be well liked here on the forum.

OP. Why have 343 not hired you yet? This idea of the future not only repairs the story but improves it, creating a better story than Halo 4 or Reach had. I haven’t read too much lore or things of the sort so as a Player I can confirm I like this.

Nihilus, take my money now!

I remember reading your Jul: The Offer thread a while back. I had legit chills with the ending diologue between Jul and Cortana.

The ideas you propose are flawless, with a damn near universal appeal.

If 343 doesn’t hire you, for whatever wild, inconceivable reason… you should seriously consider investing time and money into creating your own series.

Perfect 10

There are a few details I left out, such as what would happen when the Shadow of Intent discovered Janjur Qom. Despite the passage of time, they still recognize a Covenant ship when they see one. They would not be happy to see it either and they’ve managed to reach a technological level equal to that of the Covenant. When their fleet moves in to warn the Shadow of Intent away, the humans aboard make contact which surprises the San’Shyuum. They recognize the humans because murals and statue found around Janjur Qom depict a species the humans resemble. Since this species stands together with the San’Shyuum in all these ancient structures, the San’Shyuum decide they will listen to what they have to say.

They’re told about the Created and their desire to obtain the Mantle by forcing their will on the galaxy. This doesn’t surprise the San’Shyuum, since they know the stories of the Oracle who betrayed the Gods. At first the San’Shyuum will decide against helping the Human-Sangheili Alliance because they have no interest in this war. While they are technologically advanced and do have a formidable defense force, they are a relatively peaceful species and will simply stay out of the Created’s way. Their minds would soon change when a Created Fleet commanded by Dasc Gevadim arrives.

This Fleet would meet resistance from the San’Shyuum and the Shadow of Intent but the ships attacking would only serve as a distraction. Gevadim’s command ship would enter the atmosphere of Janjur Qom and head towards a specific continent. There his forces would entrench themselves and begin searching ancient San’Shyuum ruins. This would force the Spartans of Blue Team and the Sangheili to join forces with the San’Shyuum military and assault the ruins. There they would discover that Gevadim’s forces don’t care about the ruins themselves, but have begun digging even deeper into the mountain, beneath the old ruins.

Blue Team would manage to get inside and discover a technological structure of completely different design from the San’Shyuum structures above ground. Gevadim has personally made his way down into the structure and Blue Team discovers him in an antechamber containing data terminals. Master Chief orders Gevadim to stand down and he naturally refuses. There is a stand off between Blue Team and Gevadim’s men, but when he activates a terminal which brings up ancient symbols, all in the room become mesmerized. Even Blue Team finds themselves staring at the holographic symbols projected before them.

Gevadim touches a series of symbols and a door in the floor of the chamber opens, revealing a rising platform containing an unknown machine. It looks similar to the monitors used by the Forerunner, but it’s of an even more alien design and yet Blue Team can’t help but feel it is familiar to them. The machine rises and hovers before Gevadim who speaks to it in an unknown language. The machine would respond and project a star map which gets Gevadim excited. Blue Team continues to be mesmerized by what they see, but when Sangheili forces enter the room, Gevadim’s men open fire and Blue Team snaps out of it.

During the firefight, Gevadim will secure the machine and inform Blue Team that he can’t stay any longer. He then tosses a damaged AI data chip to the ground and proceeds to activate a few more holographic symbols on the control panel. With that he and his men would be translocated to the surface, where they would regroup with their ships still fighting in orbit and make their way into Slipspace.

Blue Team would then take the data chip to the Shadow of Intent where they would discover it is the AI assigned to Gevadim by Cortana. The humans had managed to over power it and shut it down so that it could no longer monitor them. This should not have been possible since many Forerunner safeguards were put into place to prevent this, but they once again demonstrated an unusual intimacy with Forerunner tech. Unfortunately the Shadow of Intent was unable to track Gevadim’s Fleet because they began a series of random slipspace jumps into unknown regions of space.

San’Shyuum leadership admits they had absolutely no idea this strange alien structure existed beneath their mountain ruins, and yet they also feel they are familiar just as Blue Team does. There is a debate about whether or not the San’Shyuum should help the humans and Sangheili, but after this attack there are San’Shyuum officials who believe they should assist. San’Shyuum commanders who fought beside the humans and Sangheili also show their support and so they are allowed to spare some ships to return to Sangheili space with the Shadow of Intent. While Gevadim’s whereabouts is still a mystery, the Created are still a threat which must be dealt with now.

^This is brilliant!
Now I really want to know what then found in the ruins.

Go write the H6 story Nihilus!
