just My opinion, this stops the game from punishing people quitting for legit reasons or disconnections.
if you keep quiting you’ll keep losing credits and eventually be demoted from the Cr loss I think its fair and certainly a lot better and not over the top like 12 hour or entire day bans.
what would banning for that long accomplish? what are the chances you’re going to run into that person again? yes you, don’t pretend you want to ensure a good gaming experience for everyone and you feel sorry for other people that run into that particular person on their team, You are so mad that you inevitably lost the game and got teabagged to make you angry so you make it personnel and want that particular person or entire quitting team to be banned.
EDIT: just to let everyone know I’m totally against quit penalties Anyway, but if there was a penalty system this is what I would have.

Unless you have multiple mothers, I doubt this is going to cause a difference UNLESS you had been quitting out numerous times before. So you may want to refine your list of “legit” quits.

Bit of an extreme example…
I do agree that quitting should be punished with credit deductions rather than banning. Surely, though, there’s some way for the game to distinguish between a disconnection and the actual physical act of entering the menu and selecting the quit option?
Still not willing to give those with a connection problem a free pass. If they know they have a bad connection and don’t try to remedy it, they are at fault.

?
Okay some quits definitely wont be legit, But after a few quits the game should instantly suspect something is fishy and start taking away Cr.
I really do not think there is a valid reason to quit out repeatedly really. I say a ban and cR reduction should be in place. It’s not just you playing after all.

not really, net providers shouldn’t be giving out horrible routers and modems.
although that isn’t necessarily the case all the time of course before you assume that I think that’s the problem 100% of the time like you did with the dead mothers comment… -_-

Not repeatedly, but maybe a warning after 2, because if your playing MM and realize it’s 3:00am, you might want to quit so maybe 2 quits a day before punishment or maybe just let them quit X amount per day and after that the quit option is disabled.

That’s why I wouldn’t mind this system, there is no reason to quit repeatedly so after a few rapid quits (3) it will start removing Cr and it already gives losses after the first quit , time bans are a horrible Idea for quitting.

Clearly you don’t understand how mercurial technology can be. To imply that everyone with a bad connection knows that they have a bad connection is erroneous enough, but to suggest that they are at fault for failing to remedy something that may only happen once every blue moon is just plain harsh.
A game is meant to be fun. If someone isn’t enjoying themselves. let them quit or they’ll start betraying to get the boot or just stay in the game and repeatedly kill themselves till the match is over. You’d probably be seeing people suiciding a ton if there was a cR reduction in place for quitting out, or people not even buying the game because of such a punishment. People quit. Nothing will stop that, but a harsh cR punishment will drive away sales.

I think this is correct. It’s an inevitability. The problem is not with the quitters, but with the people left behind; they’re too concerned with their rank and their credits. If people stop worrying about their standing within the game, they won’t be so bothered by the occasional game that they lose as a result of players who quit. Not to mention the fact that some of the most memorable and enjoyable games that I’ve ever played were the result of being left on my own against a horde of enemy players.
If they go back to the way Halo 3 handled matchmaking (Ranked vs Social playlists), I’d say they should implement a similar system to the OP’s idea for ranked playlists and for social playlists just count it as a loss without any other consequences.

While Drop-in/Drop-out would greatly help players left in the game, quitting can still be a problem, even if it’s only a temporary one. While I feel a player shouldn’t be penalized for quitting a game every once in a while (lets face it, some people actually have stuff they need to stop playing for), but players who habitually quit should still be penalized because even if they will be replaced, it can still be disruptive to the people they left behind.
