Look at what Halo 3 did. Split the playlists between Competitive/Social or Hardcore/Casual. Competitive/Hardcore has the classic Halo play style with new weapons, maps, etc. Then casual/social could have the modern Halo play style.
Gametypes like Invasion would be the only exception. In hardcore it would have a 1-Crown (I’ll explain this system later.) Or in Social it would be the way it is in Reach. Now the 1-Crown system. Instead of 1-50 It would be extended. There would be 100 competitive ranks. Instead of a 100 though it would be a Halo emblem themed crown symbol. When you get your first Crown(100) you get a crown armor permutation. Then for every Crown rank you get after. You can pick to embed a jewel in the crown for every 100(crown) you got. These can be worn in social playlists, too. This way people who prefer Halo 2/3 style can have their way and people who want Halo MP to go in a new direction can have theirs. It’s a win/win.
Do you like this idea?
I definitely think that they should go back to a split ranked/social matchmaking layout but I don’t think they should have different gameplay fundamentals.
They need to stick either with the new style or go back to the old, not a mix of the two. Just look back at 2 & 3, they both were huge successes among the competitive and casual base yet they shared the same core gameplay, then when you look at Reach & 4 you see playlists normally populated with vanilla gameplay and 1 or 2 playlists with classic gameplay and insanely low population. Splitting up the gameplay into two completely different styles just doesn’t work.
The Halo 3 system is needed back. It was great the way that they seperated the Casual, from the hard core players. The True skill system was great, but it had its flaws. If that could be fixed, then we’re good! The Actual emblems and ranks need to return. But Each rank need like a good 4 levels in it. (Seargent Grade 1, 2, 3, Gunnerary, master, ect.)
