I honestly don’t care that much about how much extra customization we will have than Reach’s armory. All I care is that we don’t get the following two things: Floating/glued on shoulder pieces and few “special” armor pieces. If you go into any lobby in reach, you will see that usually half of them are wearing that giant knife shoulder piece. It completely lost its value by being the only special shoulder piece, also because everyone uses it (for that reason, I might add). The inheritor helmet is the only special helmet in the game. Their are no special chest pieces. The Armor effects like pestilence and the storm one are not really that “special” because all you have to do is save up. I think they should bring back the achievement unlocks. Have most of the armory accessible by playing the game, as it is in reach but make rare/desirable pieces unlockable by very difficult challenges and achievements. I think it would restore some of the pride of getting those really awesome armor sets because it would no longer be a matter of just playing the game.
The second wish is that the armor actually looks functional and intentional. Reach had a serious problem with the “I found this stray piece of scrap metal in the wilderness and glued it to my shoulder” thing. The only shoulder pieces in the game that look as if they “belonged” there were the jump jet and sniper shoulders. There was a handful of pieces (the names of which escape me) that looked like they were one strong gust of wind away from being lost forever. So here’s to hoping that the armor sets will actually look intentional and practical.
This is admittedly a very minor thing to be concerned with but it was something that I felt limited myself and a lot of others when customizing our Spartans. What’s the use of all this customization when over half of it looks as dumb as a rock.
