Since a Topic got locked before I could post this massive reply I figure there is enough content here to make my own post and maybe offer a place for others to comment on their Halo.
You know what I want to do, is play as a badass superhero type character, but then spend a good portion of the game getting to know how he feels about flowers - does he have good bowel movements - was he ever spanked as a child.
I liked Halo 1 2 and 3, playing with a quite, subtly cheeky badass and his strong willed, take no bs, AI. What’s wrong with that. Must I always learn about some sappy stuff to get the feels. I loved the dynamic with the Chief and Cortana. I appreciate all the effort 343 did in creating a deeper story line in Halo 4 but honestly I would have preferred another route, or at least a less distraught team. I miss the AI who said, Don’t make a girl a promise, if you know you can’t keep it. It was just soft enough. You felt it, in that moment, and you moved on to do what needed to be done. Halo 1, 2 and 3 were subtle, but it worked well. I’m not saying 343 shouldn’t have added to it, I just wish they had built on the experience that was there, instead of bringing a bunch more drama to the mix.
Please lord don’t let Locke have his way. I’m not looking to play Halo 5 the Halo universe game. I want to play Halo, the Master Chief Saga. Don’t get me wrong, I’m up for both, I would just prefer 2 teams working on alternate games to come out once every other year. 1 Year Halo the Chief Saga, next Year Halo the - “other guys who still kick -Yoink- that are not the chief, stories”
On a side note I would love to see the arena combat separate from the stories to a degree and exist as it’s own entity. I would love to see it evolve as opposed to outdate. Why can’t we keep adding to the experience (**points to Minecraft) rather than recreating it endlessly. Lets hypertune the experience instead of trying to replace it. Allow the competitive community a rigid seldom changing environment where the leagues define necessary updates but the casuals get all the new toys and mayhem they can get their hands on. The biggest leagues out there like to see long term stable seldom changing platforms. They are not against evolution, they just require it to happen slower and in a more finely tuned manner.
