My Halo 5: Guardians preview

I thought you guys might be interested in checking this one out. Last night I was lucky enough to go hands-on with Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer mode at Halo Fest.

I genuinely enjoyed what I experienced and it’s great to hear 343 Industries is listening to its fan base and that this beta is starting so early. Still, I’m worried they’re trying to make the game a little bit too much like Call of Duty.

Anyways, here it is - let me know what you think (I can’t get the link to embed in this post properly for some reason).

Bump. Anyone?

Some questions.

  • I saw spread on the AR and SMG when fired ‘normally’ but they had no spread at all when using the smart scope function. Now I know that they said it would be purely cosmetical, but this is worrying me. Do you know whether or not the functionality of the weapons changed when scoped?
  • Are thrusters first person or third person, as I have seen both in various gameplay footage. Also, I hope that thruster aren’t mapped to the thumb sticks, do you know how they mapped it? (Boosts on thumb stick destroy my controller, such as in Advanced Warfare)
  • Were you annoyed by the chatter of the spartans? I am kind of ambiguous on the whole dudebro mentality the Spartan IV’s seem to have, in Halo 5 the experience seems to have been expanded with high fives and lots of chatter.

I am not sure whether or not you’re a veteran Halo player. But how did the multiplayer in general feel? Was it more like Halo with added abilities or are they really pushing a completely new feel.

I’m sure it’s just a look difference. But the gun isn’t being effected by it. But i’m re watching just to be sure.

Definately agree with Gravemind, they need the lose the dudebro stuff. Besides being out of character for the Spartans, it just struck me as extremely cheesy. Its pretty cringe worthy when the winning team is striking poses at the end of the match, almost makes losing seem like the less embarrassing option.

What are the exact mechanics of the ground-pound?

Do the controls with all of the abilities feel a little cluttered? I heard people who played the game had this issue.
